Is the
Bible Really
From God?
R
T
he Bible is the most popular book
in human history, but is it really from
God? Is it still relevant in today’s world?
The Bible is...
• 66 books sacred to
Christians.
• 39 books of the
Hebrew Bible.
• 27 books recognized
by Christians since
the first century.
CAN WE KNOW THE
tBIBLE IS FROM GOD? t
Or, is the Bible just an old book written
by human beings? Why should we care
about what it says?
The Bible says:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness, that the man of God may
be complete, thoroughly equipped for
every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
W
hat evidence is there to show that
God is responsible for the words
written in the Bible?

Why Should We Belie
How Can We Know?
Is it reasonable
in a modern world to believe
the Bible came from God?
THE BIBLE SHOWS
SUPERNATURAL INFLUENCE
Q
I
n a number of instances the Bible demonstrates
an awareness of things that are beyond human
ability. It often reveals knowledge of things beyond
human understanding at the time of its composition.
For example, the Bible acknowledged that...
THE EARTH IS ROUND E
M
any throughout human history thought the
earth was flat.
The Bible says:
“It is He who sits above the circle of
the earth, And its inhabitants are like
grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens
like a curtain, and spreads them out like a
tent to dwell in.” (Isaiah 40:22)
THE EARTH IS SUSPENDED E
I
n Hindu, Chinese, and Native American myths the
world was thought to sit on the back of a giant turtle.
The Bible says:
“He stretches out the north
over empty space; He hangs
the earth on nothing. He
binds up the water in His
thick clouds, Yet the clouds
are not broken under it.”
(Job 26:7-8)
MOUNTAINS IN THE OCEAN E
O
nly with the development of modern
technology was it possible for human beings
to explore the depths of the sea.
The Bible says:
“The waters surrounded me, even
to my soul; The deep closed around
me; Weeds were wrapped around my
head. I went down to the moorings
of the mountains; The earth with its
bars closed behind me forever; Yet You
have brought up my life from the pit,
O LORD, my God.” (Jonah 2:5-6)
DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE E
F
orty years before the Romans destroyed the
temple in Jerusalem, Jesus foretold that it
would happen in that generation (Matt. 24:34).
The Bible says:
“And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you not
see all these things? Assuredly, I say
to you, not one stone shall be left here
upon another, that shall not be thrown
down.’” (Matthew 24:2)
T
he Bible is an old book, but it is not
dusty and irrelevant to the modern
world. It is the revelation of God to the
world that establishes the standard God
has set to guide human behavior. All
of us will be judged by its words (John
12:47-48).
