.. STATE OF TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SUITE 700, JAMES K. POLK BUILDING NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE 37243-0349 (615) 741-2848 GERALD F. NICELY PHIL BREDESEN COMMISSIONER GOVERNOR December 30, 2010 The Honorable Brent Lambert Mayor, City of East Ridge 1517 Tombras Avenue East Ridge, TN 37412 Dear Mayor Lambert: Thank you for your letter of December 15, 2010 regarding an amended excess land request. It was a pleasure to meet with you and discuss the development of the property near Exit 1 on 1-75. A copy of your letter and corresponding information has been sent to our Region 2 Right of Way Office in Chattanooga. The region will prepare a revised excess land request and forward it to the Right of Way Division Headquarters in Nashville to be placed on the next Excess Land SubCommittee meeting agenda. With regard to the property previously purchased by the City of East Ridge for the fire hall, it should be noted our records indicate the property appraised for $175,000.00. The State Building Commission approved the negotiated sale of the property to the City (the City paid $50,000.00) at less than fair market value because it would be utilized for public use. To remove the restrictions on the use of the property will require the City of East Ridge to pay fair market value, less the $50,000 already paid. I trust this information will be beneficial. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Paul Degges, Chief Engineer, at (615) 741-0791 or by email at [email protected], or Mr. Jeff Hoge, Director of the Right of Way Division, at (615) 741-3196 or by e-mail at [email protected].
