Parent’s Night Out:
Friday, May 1st
6:30pm-10:30pm
By Penny Haakinson
Every time the sun peaks out from behind that cloud cover I get excited.
When I pull into the parking lot and hear the voices of the children playing
outside I get excited.
I know that we always talk about New Year’s resolutions, but I always feel
more excited about new plans and new ideas when Spring rolls around. The
energy that the sun brings is so contagious. I think we feel it in the excitement
of the little ones as they run out onto the playground happy to be able to run
free. This is also a great time to add new dimensions to our family life. How
are you going to take advantage of the great outdoors? What new adventures
are available for your family to experience? Do you stop sometimes and look
at your little ones and think, “Wow, this time of my life is just flying by!”? Be
sure to check out all the family activities listed here in the newsletter to give
you some new ideas. This is also a great time to add to your child’s role in the
family. Don’t you enjoy how the kids love to help you? If you’re busy and time
challenged this is sometimes difficult, but everyone deserves to have an
important role in the family no matter their age. Give them the opportunity to
build their self- esteem as they pitch in to get the Saturday morning chores
done. Help them to build self- control as you encourage them to do their
chores even when they don’t want to. It’s always easier if everyone is working
together. Take a hike, race each other across the yard, throw the Frisbee, go
to a favorite park. . . . . the list of fun things goes on and on and these activities
don’t cost anything but time. (Which I know is a precious commodity for
young families).
As you’re reading this, our Annual Easter Hunt will be Friday April 3rd and
this is one of the most fun days of the year. I know I am looking forward to
seeing the Easter Bunny again this year. The other thing that has really
brought a lot of love and energy to the center is the number of new siblings
being added to our families. It has been a super explosion of new life. Some
have arrived and some are still to come, but what an exciting, wonderful time.
Congratulations to all the new additions and potential arrivals. So throw off
those coats, (or at least change to lighter ones), hit the outdoors and love this
opportunity for awesome family time.

Spring Break
Spring break is just around the
corner! It is April 6-10th. We
have lots of fun things planned

Kindergarten Registration
For all of you with little ones
who will be attending public
Kindergarten next school year,
April and May are the months
to register your child. Children
must be age 5 by August 31st.
You must show verification of
birth date (birth certificate) and
current immunization record. We
also need an updated
immunization record as well.
Flip Flops
As the weather gets nicer
outside we begin to pull out our
summer clothing. A friendly
reminder, flip flops and sandals
without a back strap are not
allowed here at Children’s
Village. Thank you for your
continuous help with this!
Parent Files
Did you know you have a parent
file? It is located under the
parents last name in the main
hallway.
We put pictures,
receipts and sometimes coupons
in them. We also put tax
information in them for you.
Focus of the Month
This month we will be focusing
on “all about me and my family
and my culture”. This is about
how a child responds to
different situations and how
their family and culture makes
them unique.

are super excited to have her
