Orems’ Mission Statement
The mission of Orems Elementary School is to
create a culture of deliberate excellence for
every student. The Orems’ staff will work
cooperatively with parents, PTA, and the
community to create a safe, secure, and positive
environment conducive to high levels of teaching,
learning, and student engagement.

Every year, the School Progress/Leadership
Team generates a Family Perception Survey for
Orems’ Families. The information gathered from
the returned surveys has provided data to ensure
that we are providing the best possible education
for our students, and that we are supporting our
parents/caregivers as well in their efforts toward
student success. This year’s survey is being
distributed in this edition of The Wolf. Please
respond by Friday, May 15.
On Thursday, October 30, 2015, 12 new
members were inducted into the Orems Chapter of
the National Elementary Honor Society.

Baltimore County Public Schools’ policy
requires that all students transitioning from Grade
5 to Grade 5 and Grade 8 to Grade 9 verify
residency prior to the start of the school year.
Provisions for student enrollment and attendance
are outlined in Board of Education Policy and
Superintendent’s Rule 5150, STUDENTS:
Enrollment and Attendance. A copy of Policy and
Rule 5150 can be obtained by accessing the link at
www.bcps.org or by requesting a copy from the
school.
Verification of residency requires at least
five (5) documents from parent/guardian,
including photo identification, one of the
following documents providing proof of domicile:
deed or lease, title, mortgage coupon book, real
estate tax bill or receipt, and three pieces of
business mail or documentation dated wi thin sixty
(60) days of the date submitted. All documents
must reflect the same address.
For your convenience school personnel
will be available to verify residency by the
following date: May 15, 2015.
Please be advised that failure to provide
transition year residency verification will result in
the withdrawal of your child. Thank you for your
cooperation in updating your residency to ensure
compliance with Board Policy and
Superintendent’s Rule 5150.
PreKindergarten is a half-day program
provided to develop the language and preacademic
skills of four year old students. Orems
Elementary School is fortunate to have two
sessions of PreK (AM and PM).
Children born between September 2, 2010,
and September 1, 2011, will be eligible to be
screened for participation in PreK in the fall of
201. 5
All children born between September 2,
2009, and September 1, 2010, MUST register for
Kindergarten. Your child must be 5 years old by
September 1, 2015. If your child is currently
enrolled in PreK at Orems, you do not need to
register him/her for Kindergarten.
Parents should call Mrs. Burns at 410-8870172 to add their child’s name to the PreK
screening list and Kindergarten registration list.
This will enable children to be scheduled for
screening/registration appointments. PreK
screening will take place Friday, May 22.
We ask our families to pass this
information along to others who have children
who may qualify for the program.

Cada año, el Equipo de Progreso/Manejo Escolar
elabora una Revisión de la Percepción de Familias
para las Familias de Orems. La información
obtenida de las revisiones devueltas ha
proporcionado datos para asegurar que estamos
proporcionando la mejor educación posible para
nuestros estudiantes, y apoyar a nuestros
padres/custodios también en su esfuerzo hacia el
éxito de los estudiantes.

La política de las Escuelas de Público de
Condado de Baltimore requiere que todos los
estudiantes transitorios del Grado 5to para
Clasificar a 6to y de 8to para Clasificar 9
verifiquen el lugar de domicilio antes que
comience el año escolar. Las normas para
inscripción de estudiante y asistencia son

PreKindergarten es un programa de medio
día que provee desarrollar del lenguaje y las
habilidades pre académicas de los niños de 4 años
de edad. La Escuela Primaria de Orems tiene la
suerte de contar con dos sesiones de Pre-K
(mañana y tarde).
Los niños nacidos entre el 2 de septiembre de
2010 y el 1 de septiembre de 2011 serán elegibles
para ser seleccionados para participar en Pre-K en
el otoño de 2015.
Todos los niños nacidos entre el 2 de
septiembre de 2009 y el 1 de septiembre del 2010,
deben registrarse para Kindergarten. Su niño debe
tener 5 años para el 1 de septiembre de 2015. Si su
hijo está inscrito actualmente en pre-kindergarten
en Orems, no tiene que inscribirlo para el
Kindergarten.
Los padres deben llamar a la señora Burns
