Summer 2015
9:45 - 10:15 a.m. CAREER EXPLORATIONS ...........................Blue Ridge Ballroom, Student Union
In this interactive session, career counselors from the Career Development Center will
help you learn more about interests, skills, values and personality and how these work
together in determining your major and career path. You will also be introduced to
career planning resources on campus that can assist you during your time at Appalachian.
10:30 – 11:00 a.m.
ENGLISH SELF-PLACEMENT
.....................................................................................Blue Ridge Ballroom, Student Union
Composition faculty will meet with all new students, describe the Composition Program,
and explain students’ options in completing their first-year English writing requirement.
Students complete activities that will help them to make informed decisions regarding
which composition course is best for them. This session is required for all new
students who do not have credit for RC 1000 (first year composition and
rhetoric).
11:15 - 2:30 p.m. ACADEMIC PLANNING
.......................................................................Same Location as Small Group Advising
Your small group meets to discuss the policies and procedures for academic planning.
You will also meet individually with your advisor to start your personal academic plan.
LUNCH
Lunch will be scheduled by your advisor according to your registration time. You may
use your meal card at any of the food facilities on campus during this time.
