Congratulations to all who were fully
initiated into the Catholic Church during
the Easter Vigil!
I ask that the church family join me in
prayer for these children and adults candidates and
catechumens who have received their sacraments
at the Church’s most solemn and joyful liturgy, that
this is just the beginning of a fulfilling, faith filled
life. Pray for them in this period of Mystagogy, that
they may deepen their faith and become more fully
a part of this community.
Fr. George

Altar Servers
On behalf of Our Lady of
the Lake Youth Office, we
would like to congratulate
all of the students that were recently confirmed.
Now that you have been fully initiated into the
Catholic faith, we pray that you will join us in
spreading the Good News of Christ and His Church
while continuing your own journey of spiritual
growth. It has truly been an honor to work with all
of our astounding Catechists and other volunteers;
our program wouldn’t be possible without you all,
we are beyond grateful. Finally, we would like to
extend our gratitude to Fr. George and the Church
Staff for their continued support of our program
and of all of our amazing youth! God bless you all
and we are so thankful that you have allowed us to
be part of your journey towards Christ. We hope to
see you soon!
Altar servers are an integral part of Mass. Our Lady
of the Lake is in need of more altar servers for
Saturday and Sunday Masses. Anyone interested
must be a baptized Catholic and have completed
their first Holy Communion.
A mandatory training session for both new and
current altar servers will be held in the sanctuary
on Saturday, April 25 from 11am to 1pm. If you are
interested in serving as an altar server, please email
Jeanette Grau at [email protected].
2015 Graduates:
The Youth Ministry Office is hosting a dinner to
honor all 2015 graduates on Sunday, May 3rd
following the 5:00pm Mass, in the Holy Family
Center. For more information and to RSVP please
contact BJ Martin at [email protected].
Please RSVP by Monday, April 27th.
Second Sunday of Easter – Divine Mercy Sunday
This is a busy time for our parish. On Thursday and Friday we celebrated the Confirmation of over 100 of our
young people. In the next few weeks we will witness the First Communion of many of our very young
Catholic Christians. If you are an adult, can you remember back to your initiation sacraments? We will
probably not remember Baptism since many of us were infants, but First Communion and Confirmation may
have memories for us. What was the most important part of that experience for you? Was it the clothing, or
the party or the gifts you received? Did you have a chance to be with family you had not seen for a while?
Did you have your favorite food or a nice cake to celebrate this important occasion? Maybe as you look back
now you may realize the Sacrament itself was not very high on the list of memories if even on the list at all?
Well where are you now with those two sacraments? What do Communion and Confirmation mean to you
each day? Probably little would be my guess. Should these sacraments mean something more to us? Of
course they should, but how can we make them more noteworthy? Have you read about them in the
Catechism? If you go to the USCCB website you can find a copy of the Catechism and look up what our faith
asks us to believe. This can be a starting point. Where we go from there is of course up to us, but we can
start at least. It is always a good thing to think about where we are on our journey home. Take stock of the
road signs and rest areas we have passed and used and pay attention to those coming up. Maybe a child or
relative will soon receive one of these sacraments and we can share with them how these sacraments have
helped us. Of course we need to think about how they have helped us or we become “clanging cymbals or
noisy gongs”. Let us take any opportunity we have to share our Easter joy of the Resurrection and our
inclusion into the Church through the sacraments of initiation with those we meet, especially those to whom
we are family. Being a Catholic Christian is a privilege and a challenge, but a joyous one……
Blessings, Ken Swinson; Director of Worship, Adult Faith Formation and RCIA
It is time to return your Rice Bowl!
Es hora de volver a su plato de arroz!
1. Count the money in your box and convert your savings into dollar bills or a
check made out to OLOL, if possible. Counting the money, and knowing how
much you are helping others makes a big impact on children!
2. Return your Rice Bowl money to Sara Campbell in the Faith Formation
before April 23, 2015.
Next Meeting Reminder
Please join the St. Vincent de Paul Society at their next meeting on April 16th at 7:00 pm in

Waters at 972-771-0696.
The Visual Journaling Group will meet at Our Lady of the Lake on April 17, 2015. Our theme is “Praying a
Mandala.” The praying is in the creating. We will be making mandalas for healing
and spiritual well-being. This is a meditative form of praying and no experience,
no skills are required. What is required is a willingness to explore some new ways
of praying in nature and learning about your Self.
Our contemplative practice for April will include a meditative nature walk at Harry
Myers Park and discovering how nature plays a role
in your spiritual growth. The finished mandala is like
a journal entry, a sign of the prayer time you and God shared.
Location: Harry Myers Park.
We will meet in Room #1 and caravan to the park at 9:15 am sharp.
Please bring a 9 in. by 12 in. sketch book and colored pencils, glue, a camera, a
few baggies. Please call or e-mail if you plan to attend.

Improving your finances in 2015
Despite the expectations of higher interest rates, rates have continued to be near all-time lows. Now may be
a good time to refinance your mortgage.
There are a couple of ways you can benefit from refinancing:
•
Swapping your current 30 year mortgage for one with a lower interest rate could cut your monthly
expenses by $100-$200 depending on your current interest rate.
•
Converting your 30 year mortgage to a 15 year term with a lower rate can save you thousands in interest
paid over the life of the loan.
•
If you plan to stay in your current home for the foreseeable future and you are carrying a mortgage in excess of 4.5% you may be a candidate to refinance and save.
Contact your current lender to evaluate if you can make refinancing work for you.
