VIOLA HAUPT
Our Savior’s has once again been blessed with
a bequest from the estate of a former member.
We have received a check of $5,150.02 from
Lincoln Financial, the result of our being
named beneficiary to a life insurance policy of
Viola Haupt of Lodi, WI.
Viola was born on Sept 20, 1913, in Racine,
MN, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Lage.
She was confirmed a Zion Lutheran Church,
the German Lutheran congregation, which
merged with Trinity (Norwegian) Lutheran in
1950 to form Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Viola graduated from Spring Valley High
School in 1931. She married Raymond Haupt
on April 22, 1939, and they farmed near
Arlington Prairie, WI, for more than 40 years.
Viola died at age 99 on June 18, 2013. She
was preceded in death by parents, her
husband Raymond, her brothers Earnest
(Hattie) and Helon (Lillian). Survivors include
nieces Myrthis (Bill) Griffith, Dorothy Whiting,
and Carol (Bruce) Dethmers, and nephew John
(Liz) Schoenknecht.
We give thanks for the blessing that Viola was
in her life and the blessing which she has given
us through this gift in her death.
“God’s work.
Our hands.”

Children’s Choir
Opportunity
I have been missing the children’s
choir! How about you?? I would
like to create a short term
children’s choir to sing with the
senior choir on a new song. This
would be a short term
commitment, we would meet once
again at the church to practice and
I would pull them from SS once or
twice for a few minutes on a
Sunday morning to have
opportunity to run through it with
the senior choir. I would plan to
begin the first Wednesday after
Easter in April at 2:30-3:30pm.
We will have singing time and a
snack. We will meet the 8, 15, 22,
and 29th.
Who’s ready to join me?? I am
looking for any students K-6th
grade. New and returning
members are all welcome!! Let’s
raise the roof in praise to God
together!

If you are ordering and
bringing in your own lily
please notify the church
office, so that it can be
included in the bulletin for
Easter. Please do not bring
lilies to the church before
Friday, April 3, 2015.
Confirmation
Instruction
Resumes for 7th, 8th, & 9th grade
students, beginning at 7:00 PM
on April 15, 2015.
To all of our Church family,
with our love and gratitude,
who have been keeping us in
your prayers, sending cards,
visits, phone calls, food, gifts,
flowers and so many ways
that you’ve supported us and
our family since our auto accident. We’re
gradually getting back to what will be our “new
normal”. It’s been very comforting and uplifting
to feel your love, support, and prayers. It’s
been a big part of our recovery!
With our deep thanks, love, and God’s
blessings to all of you. It’s good to be back
among you!

ELCA Malaria Campaign
A child dies from malaria every 60
seconds.
We are in a special moment to help turn this
around. Since the start of the ELCA Malaria
Campaign, ELCA members and our companions
overseas have already seen a reduction in the
number of deaths from this preventable,
treatable disease. We are a church that
believes God is calling us into the world —
together. Working through Lutheran partners in
Africa, the ELCA Malaria Campaign is uniquely
positioned to help provide mosquito nets,
education, testing, medication and more to
help eliminate deaths from this disease — for
good. - See more at: http://www.elca.org/OurWork/Relief-and-Development/ELCA-MalariaCampaign/#sthash.sKlKl8TJ.dpuf

promoting sustainable livelihoods through
participation in village savings and loans
groups so that community members can afford
mosquito nets, transport and health care

gathering people together to discuss the
importance of malaria prevention and control

ELCA’s Approach

For many years, the ELCA has been supporting
clinics and programs in Africa that provide
health care. Now, through the ELCA Malaria
Campaign, we are focusing on malaria with
new intensity. By joining hands with Lutheran
partners in 13 African countries, we are
becoming part of the global movement to
make malaria history.
Sunday
How we work
April 12, 2015
The ELCA Malaria Campaign funds programs of
companion churches and Lutheran partners in
education, prevention and treatment of malaria
by:
providing life-saving health care, including
medicine to treat malaria

training pastors, church volunteers and health
care providers to diagnose and treat malaria

teaching people how to protect themselves
from the mosquitoes that spread malaria,
recognize symptoms and seek treatment

distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets
and providing training on proper use

providing preventative medication to protect
pregnant women and their babies

encouraging governments to provide adequate
health care and engage in malaria prevention
activities

supporting community projects to control the
environments where mosquitoes breed

Savior’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund

Funding has come from estate bequests. The Fund
is under management of investment representative
Debby Fugleberg at Home Federal Investment
Services. If you are interested in including this Fund
in your Estate Planning or ongoing support to our
congregation please contact Debby for an

The Endowment Fund has an additional
$2300 available to distribute at this time for
capital improvements. According to the
church bylaws the income from the fund shall
be distributed with a division of 25% for capital
improvements, 25% for youth activities, 25%
for outreach, and 25% is discretionary. The
Endowment fund was able to fund all requests
that were turned in in February. The committee
did not receive enough requests to fulfill the
constitutional requirement so they are now
asking for requests for the capital
improvement category only. Requests must
be submitted to the church office no later than
April 30, 2015. Please include where the funds
are to go, why they are needed, what they will
be used for, and sign the request. The Church
Council will have final approval of fund
distribution at their May meeting.

The service group lists are of people in the

events at the church. The lists have gone through
some changes to try to even out the lists with people
who can be available to respond in service. For a
number of reasons, there are people who are not
included on the lists (shut-in, live out of town, have
indicated a desire not to be contacted, etc.) Thank you
to all the people in Our Savior’s who live out their
faith in caring support of the ministries of the church.
