Class Placement Input Due May 29
Classroom placement decisions are a team effort and
include input from teachers, specialists, administration
and parents. In an effort to provide the best education
possible, we carefully balance a variety of factors including student abilities, special needs, the ratio of boys
and girls, and students who need to be separated.
If you have specific input that will help us make an
optimum placement for your child, please provide it
in writing no later than Friday, May 29, 2015. Please
provide information about your child’s strengths and
needs as well as classroom or teacher characteristics
that will help your child be most successful. An optional input form is available in the office and on our
website. Requests for specific teachers and/or late
requests cannot be considered.
Class lists will be developed and revised over the summer as we learn about new students or students who
move away. Final class lists will be posted on the front
door of the school about one week before school starts.

Open Enrollment for
Junior High in 2016-17
Junior high schools in the Boise School
District are currently accepting Open Enrollment Applications for the 2016-17
school year. Applications received by May
15th of a student’s fifth grade year are
given first consideration for open enrollment in district junior high schools.
Some junior high schools still have openings for current sixth graders while others
are full and have waiting lists. If your child
is still in fifth grade, please plan ahead and
submit an Open Enrollment Application
this year to increase your chances of being
accepted. A complete copy of open enrollment policies and procedures can be found
on the district website
Dress Code Reminders
Student attire should be appropriate for
the weather and season. Tank top
straps must be at least two-fingers
wide. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must
be fingertip length or longer. Students
sit on the floor for instruction so shorts
or tights are recommended under dresses and skirts.
Shoes must be playground and P.E. appropriate (i.e. sturdy shoes without
heels, laces tied, buckles fastened).
Sandals must enclose toes, heels and
the top of the foot. Flip flops are not
allowed. Students with inappropriate
shoes will be excluded from P.E. and recess.
Summer Music Program
for 4th-6th Grades
Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students in
Boise have a great opportunity to grow and
experience music during the summer. The
Boise School District offers a Summer Music Camp in June where students can try
instruments as well as improve on an instrument they are already studying. Choir
is also offered and a great choice! I highly
recommend this program. It's low risk for
students, but bursting with opportunity. The cost is $40, no matter how many
classes your student registers for. You can
find more information on the district website under 'Summer Programs' and
'Music.' I have sent home information with
4th - 6th grade students. Hopefully your
student will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
Owyhee Students Qualify
for City Track Meet
Owyhee had 10 students who earned a
1st through 4th place qualification at the
District Track Meet. The students are:
Eli Caldwell, Brock Rossetti, Zoe Day,
Iziak Kelso, Micki Lima, Ariana Gonzalez, Alex Anderson, Lexie Christopherson, Peyton Balzarini, and Jackson
Palmer. Placing in the top 4 allowed
them to represent our school at the City
Track Meet on Monday, May 4, 2015.
