Recruitment Announcement: Recruitment Closes: Program Outreach Coordinator April 27, 2015 The Pacific Education Institute (PEI) was founded in 2003 to develop researched‐based real world learning programs with educators, to prepare students to think critically, reach conclusions, and implement solutions to address the social, economic and environmental challenges of their local and global community. PEI is a 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization supported by businesses, foundations, government agencies, individuals and educators. Position Overview The Program Outreach Coordinator is responsible for building and advancing networks at the K‐12 practioner level, and building partnerships between school districts and community professionals for integrated learning using PEI’s FieldSTEM program focused on the environment, natural resources and agriculture sectors. This position reports to the Program Director. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Primary Responsibilities 





School and Service District Networking ‐ Inform, engage and recruit districts and schools interested in systemic FieldSTEM implementation. Initiate, negotiate and continue the development of PEI district and school systemic FieldSTEM relationships. Develop working relationships with Education Service Districts. Faculty Support ‐ Liaison and support PEI Faculty in the development of school district environment programs . Professional Development and Coaching ‐ Identify and offer FieldSTEM and Common Core professional development and instructional coaching to Professional Learning Communities and collaborative groups or community of interest teams. Stakeholder Development ‐ Make stakeholder connections for school districts developing field based opportunities for students to work with community members. Provide training for informal educators and professionals in the community. Meeting and Workshop Coordination and Faciliation ‐ Coordinate and facilitate meetings to communicate with teachers, district liaisons, consultants, business and organization partners, and other stakeholders as appropriate. Facilitate educator workshops as needed. Communication and Reporting ‐ Write updates and reports on progress of PEI program initiatives and implementation. Desired Qualifications 





Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years experience in K‐12 education Experience leading adults; skilled in meeting and workshop facilitation Self‐directed; takes initiative to follow through on plans and projects Able to work well both independently and as part of a team effort Outgoing, committed to education, teachers and students, works well with all people Up‐to‐date on current initiatives in education, e.g. Common Core, NGSS 724 Columbia St. NW, Suite 255 ▪ Olympia, WA 98501 ▪ www.pacificeducationinstitute.org

Nonprofit knowledge a plus Basic knowledge of general environmental issues a plus Salary and Employment Information This is a part‐time position, 0.5 FTE. Salary $22,500 ‐ $25,000/year dependent on successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. This is a field based position requiring travel primarily within, but not limited to, Western Washington, with an emphasis on King, Pierce and Thurston Counties. PEI headquarters are located in Olympia, WA. All PEI employees are at will.
