Israel in the News National Headlines My friend, today is your day of decision. Are you saved? God loves you. The Bible tells us that because we're all born with a sinful fallen nature that separates us from God, Jesus Christ (God the Son) was sent into this world to die on the cross and shed His precious blood for your sins. Those who truly receive Christ into their heart by faith will be transformed spiritually and accepted by God into His heavenly kingdom. Those who reject Christ will be separated from God forever and tormented in Hell and the Lake of Fire. What will your decision be? Global Headlines and Images of the Week For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Day of Decision DAY OF DECISION Prophetic World Events FENWICK LIGHTHOUSE FENWICK ISLAND, DELAWARE Bible Study Lesson: GODLY DISCIPLINE Key Bible Verse: Hebrews 12:5-11 – “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Israeli leader says world silent on Gaza rocket attacks: Israel's prime minister slammed the international community's silence over recent rocket attacks from Gaza and warned that a strong reprisal could be forthcoming. Benjamin Netanyahu said he hasn't heard a word of condemnation from the world about three rocket attacks from Gaza over the past two weeks. The rockets did not cause any injury or harm but disrupted the quiet in southern Israel that has mostly prevailed since last summer's war between Hamas and Israel. "It will be interesting to see if this silence continues when we use all our strength in exercising our right to defend ourselves," Netanyahu said at his weekly Cabinet meeting. "It should be clear: the hypocrisy that is sweeping the world will not chain our hands from defending the citizens of Israel." Other Scriptures: Job 5:17 – “Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty” Proverbs 13:24 – “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” Proverbs 19:18 – “Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. ” Revelation 3:19 – “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. ” There is, I fear, a lost art which seems to have abandoned us in today’s society— the art of godly discipline. Discipline according to the Bible is the one essential element for proper spiritual development in all human beings. From children to adults, everyone is subject to the authority of God’s word. Those who reject it, do so at their own peril. Yet in spite of this very fact, most people today still choose to live undisciplined lives. In other words they’d rather have fun doing whatever it is they want, than obeying the Lord and suffering for Him. Many children grow up in homes with little or no parental discipline. Most kids are smart enough to know that by pouting, crying, or throwing a temper tantrum, they can have their own way and eventually get whatever it is they want. This past week, I had the joy of witnessing a young child at a store screaming and crying as loud as possible because they didn’t get what they wanted. One of their parents who was with them never stopped it or disciplined them at all. Like children, many adults also live undisciplined lives today, which more often than not means obeying God only when it’s convenient for them. Like oversized children, these so-called grown-ups use dishonesty and manipulation to get whatever they want. They lie, cheat, steal, slander, and injure others with hurtful words and actions, in order to live selfish and undisciplined lives. In the Bible, we learn that God’s people not only discipline themselves, but they’re also disciplined by the Lord. God disciplines those of us who are truly His children (true believers in Christ) because He loves us in a special way as our Heavenly Father. We’re His legitimate sons and daughters who belong to Him personally in a way the rest of the world can’t understand or relate to. In the same way, godly parents are called to discipline their own children according to the Bible because they love them. What’s your attitude toward godly discipline today? Sincerely, Mr. Chris J. Grego Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions that you may have. U.S. officials have said on condition of anonymity they believe the hackers are based in China, but Washington has not publicly blamed Beijing at a time when tensions are high over Chinese territorial claims in the South China Sea. Florida woman sets out on 6,000-mile Pacific crossing by rowboat: Sonya Baumstein, a 29-yr old athlete from Orlando, Florida, waited for weeks to set out in her custom-designed rowboat from Choshi, a port east of Tokyo, headed for San Francisco. With a few last-minute adjustments to her supplies and a brief call to her parents, she rowed out of the marina on Sunday, a tiny sliver on the glittering horizon, hoping to finish the 6,000-mile (9,600-kilometer) journey by late September and become the first woman to row solo across the Pacific.
