the#values#and#aptitude#your#child#shows#toward#learning.#We#assess#skills#that#
are# important# in# any# person’s# life# and# contribute# to# lifelong# learning# and# to# a#

feeling#of#anxiety#rushes#over#me#as#it’s#my#first#tramp#ever!##I#arrive#at#school#with#my#pack#
loaded#to#the#brim#with#supplies#I#will#need#on#the#tramp.##

The# car# trip# to# Mikonui# was# LONG# and# painful# as# it# started# to# rain.# # I# arrived# at# Mikonui#
loaded#with#energy#and#ready#for#a#long#day#of#walking,#I#chucked#on#my#pack#which#felt#like#
I#was#carrying#an#elephant#and#we#headed#off.#
#
The#walk#to#the#hut#was#long#and#painful#but#the#scenery#was#amazing,#getting#to#the#hut#
was#a# challenge#in#itself!#Once#we#arrived#we#pitched#our#tents#and#got#ready#for#a#swim#
which# we# were# all# pumped# for!# The# swimming# hole# was#freezing#and# it# gave# you# a#
headache#but#it#was#soo#much#fun,#I#was#the#fourth#one#to#jump#in#and#one#of#the#last#to#
get#out.##

The#next#day#we#did#some#river#crossing#which#was#awesome,#next#we#were#asked#to#light#a#
emergency#fire#which#was#frustrating#but#fun!##

This#was#an#amazing#way#to#kick#off#the#WPCA#Challenge#and#I#cant#wait#for#the#next.##

I#arrive#at#school#with#an#excited#side#of#me#ready#to#do#the#first#ever#WPCA.##I#know#this#challenge#
would# put# my# back# out# when# I# put# the# pack# on# in# the# first# place# and# that's# what# makes# it# a#
challenge#for#me#like#carrying#an#90#litre#pack#on#my#back#for#2#days#facing#my#fears#and#learning#
outdoor#tips.#
#
We#arrive#at#the#venue#(Mikinoui#Flats#hut)#and#the#view#is#amazing#mud#+#freezing#cold#water#+#
packs#=##an#exhilarating#adventure.#I#have#an#a#spectacular#feeling#inside#of#me#its#like#something#
new#just#grew#inside#of#me#like#a#new#memory.#Listening#to#our#teacher#makes#everything#so#much#
safer#and#thrilling#because#of#the#demonstration,#presentation#and#brief#we#had#a#few#days#ago.#
#
I# am# super# proud# I# am# doing# this# challenge,# it’s# beating# my# anxiety# problems# really# well# but# I’m#
pretty#scared#that#the#anxiety#its#just#going#to#crawl#back#in#its#hole#and#affect#me#while#I#am#on#
this#challenge,#for#some#this#challenge#is#challenging#for#them#and#for#me.#
#
We#arrive#at#one#of#the#most#challenging#parts#of#the#trip#j#river#crossing.##The#water#was#freezing#
cold#to#me,#it#was#like#the#ice#has#just#all#melted#and#it’s#just#iced#water.##It#comes#to#our#group,#we#
start# going# in# the# water# and# its# quite# shallow# and# finally# the# water# drops# so# much# it# was# up# to#
further#than#our#waist;#finally#all#of#us#completed#our#mission.#
#
Now# comes# the# hard# and# freaky# part# jumping# off# a# rock# in# the# same# freezing# cold# water,# now#
comes#the#time#where#my#anxiety#problems#start#building#up#on#me#I#see#all#my#friends#jumping#in#
and#this#leaves#me#the#last#person#to#jump#in#I#tried#dipping#in#the#water#it#kinda#worked#but#not#
really# I# went# to# the# top# and# sat# their# for# a# minute# and# thought# it# all# through# my# friends# were#
cheering#me#all#on#and#finally#I#swept#my#anxiety#problems#out#the#way#and#finally#jumped#in#with#
one# of# my# best# friends# AKA# Aaliyah,# I# came# out# of# the# water# and# everybody# was# so# relieved# I#
jumped#in#because#I#was#up#there#for#a#very#long#time#and#I#was#so#proud#of#myself.#

A holiday programme for children aged 5—13 years.
WestREAP is an approved provider of OSCAR holiday programmes. Our aim is to provide a high quality option to parents who require childcare for primary school aged children.
These are available for many families, you do not need to be a Work & Income client. We offer a range of appropriate activities and experiences all aimed at children having fun in a safe environment.
