Goal The goal of this program is to increase the participants’ knowledge of Perinatal Mood Disorders by focusing on the many challenges new mothers face, the interventions and strategies they can use to reduce stress in everyday life and how to pursue their own path towards emotional wellness. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Objectives Explain how the role of resilience can be utilized as a tool against adversity in practice and life. Indicate the problems associated with maintaining the breastfeeding relationship for depressed mothers. Discuss the role of breastfeeding as a protective factor in toxic stress and in supporting infant mental health. Identify available resources that provide support and treatment for women identified to be at risk for Perinatal Mood Disorders. Recognize the prevalence and impact of trauma exposure. Describe the components of the eight dimension wellness model. Speakers Speakers Teena Cahill, Psy.D is the Director of Wisdom and Beyond, LLC, a multimedia company. She has more than 25 years of experience as an international keynote speaker, healthcare professional, TV host and author. She is known to bring a humorous and uniquely empowering perspective to issues that include leadership, health, wellness, managing change and seeing adversity as a learning tool for resilience. Colleen Morgan, Psy.D is a Clinical Psychologist providing empirically based treatment for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She is an International Certified Trauma Specialist and focuses on trauma, anxiety and mood disorders using individual, group and family therapy modalities. Diane Procaccini, RN, MSN, IBCLC is a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a background in Psychiatry and Pediatrics. She is a Lactation Consultant and Educator at Capital Health System, Trenton and Hopewell, NJ. She is experienced in lactation program development for hospitals, physicians’ offices and in regional and state-wide educational programs. Margaret Swarbrick, PhD, OTR, CPRP, FAOTA is a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner and a Certified Occupational Therapist. She is the Director of the Institute for Wellness and Recovery Initiatives Collaborative Support Programs of NJ, Inc. (CSPNJ), an Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers School of Health Related Professions, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions and a Program Evaluation/Quality Improvement Consultant, Bridgeway, Inc., NJ. Jill Wodnick, MA, LCCE, CLC, IMH-E® (II) is a Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula, Advanced Doula Trainer and Infant Mental Health Endorsement (ll) Family Specialist.
