Contest Rules
VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
Sponsors: Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS).
HOW TO ENTER:
To enter the PASS BAC Miko Yuk book giveaway raffle (“Contest”), you must be
registered to attend BAC 2015. The contest begins at 9:00 am Eastern Daylight
Time on Tuesday April 7, 2015 and ends at midnight on Wednesday April 15, 2015
Eastern Daylight Time. (The “Contest Period”)
COMMON TERMS USED IN THESE RULES:
These are the official rules that govern how the contest will operate. In these
rules, “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to the Professional Association for SQL Server,
the sponsor of the contest. “You” refers to an eligible contest entrant.
CAN I ENTER?
You are eligible to enter this contest if you meet the following requirements at
time of entry:
This contest is open to new and current registered attendees of the PASS Business
Analytics Conference who are 18 years of age and older.
All tweets received that meet the outlined messaging under “How Do I Enter?” in
these rules, during the Start and End Dates of the contest will be automatically
entered into the draw to win one of the following prizes:
Prize (20 available) – One “Data Visualization for Dummies” book to be picked
up during Mico Yuk’s “Meet & Greet” session at the BAC conference.
No employee, contractor, board member, or elected board member of PASS, the
Professional Association for SQL Server, or its affiliated companies, his or her
spouse, or immediate family members shall be eligible to win. Additionally, PASS
reserves the right to disqualify any other person from participating in the contest
where such participation would, in the sole opinion of PASS, compromise or give
the appearance of compromising the integrity of the Contest.
HOW DO I ENTER?
Starting at 9:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 participants will tweet the
message and photo provided below, which will also be outlined in the email sent
to conference registrants. Winners will be picked at random on April 16, 2015.
To be eligible to win, you must do all of the following:
1. Tweet the message: I’m going to #passbac, are you? I’ll be meeting
@MicoYuk, author of #dataviz for dummies book, and others!
2. Add this photo to the tweet:
3. Post tweet up to three times for three entries
WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZES
Winners will be drawn at random from all tweet entries as of midnight ET April
15, 2015.
Prize Winners: The winner of the contest must be a registrant of the PASS 2015
Business Analytics Conference. Each winner will be personally responsible to pick
up their copy during Miko Yuk’s “Meet & Greet” session at the BAC. Winners must
be able to be notified via the Twitter or email used during conference
registration. If you are a winner, we will require you to sign a Release Agreement
within 10 days of notification. If you are a potential winner and you are 18 or
older, but are considered a minor in your place of legal residence, we may require
your parent or legal guardian to sign all required forms on your behalf. If you do
not complete the required forms as instructed and/or return the required forms
within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may
disqualify you and select an alternate, randomly selected winner. All winners
must sign an affidavit of eligibility and release/waiver that releases PASS from any
and all liability, claims, demands, or actions resulting from acceptance and use of
the prizes awarded.
If you are confirmed as a winner of this Contest:
 You may not exchange your prize for cash or any other merchandise or
services. However, if for any reason the advertised prize is unavailable, we
reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value; and
 You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or
unwilling to accept your prize, we will award it to an alternate potential
winner; and
 If you accept a prize, you will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes
related to accepting the prize; and
WHAT ARE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING?
Your odds of winning this Contest depend on the number of eligible entries we
receive.
WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS ARE YOU AGREEING TO BY ENTERING THIS
CONTEST?
By entering this Contest you agree:
 To abide by these Official Rules; and
 To release and hold harmless PASS, and its respective parents, subsidiaries,
affiliates, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss
or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Contest or
any prize won; and
 That PASS’ decision will be final and binding on all matters related to this
Contest; and
 That by accepting a prize, PASS may use your proper name and state of
residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this
Contest, without payment or compensation to you, except where
prohibited by law
WHAT LAWS GOVERN THE WAY THIS CONTEST IS EXECUTED AND
ADMINISTRATED?
This Contest will be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and you consent
to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the State of Illinois for any
disputes arising out of this Contest.
WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE CONTEST CAN’T RUN
PLANNED?
If cheating, a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or
unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also
referred to as force majeure) affects the fairness and / or integrity of this Contest,
we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Contest. This right is
reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If a solution
cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Contest, we reserve the right to
select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel,
change or suspend the Contest. If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the
legitimate operation of this Contest by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud
in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by
law. Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Contests, so
please play fairly.
