THE 2015 JEANNE HURLEY SIMON LECTURE “Healthcare in Illinois”with Felicia Norwood Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services 7 p.m. - Thursday, March 26 SIU Carbondale Student Center Auditorium Free and open to the public. Felicia F. Norwood brings more than twenty years of experience in health care policy, health business operations and health care delivery to her position. Norwood has spent large portions of her career working for the insurance company, Aetna. She was a senior policy adviser on Health and Human Services to Governor Edgar, where she led health care reform initiatives, and chaired the Governor’s Human Services Cabinet. Norwood has also served as a policy adviser to Governor Thompson, where she developed and implemented policies on children and family services, public health, and mental health. Established in memory of Paul Simon’s first wife, Jeanne Hurley Simon, this lecture series features a woman of distinction in the areas of politics, government and law. Born in Chicago in 1922, Jeanne earned a bachelor’s degree at Barat College in Lake Forest and a law degree at Northwestern University Law School in Evanston. She met Paul Simon while both were serving as Democrats in the Illinois House of Representatives.
