Latin America has experienced
significant grow in the recent past
as a result of the economic crisis in
Europe and the US. Countries such as
Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru
are investing substantial funding in
upgrading their surface transportation
infrastructure. These investments need
to be guided by the application of
updated and appropriate technologies for the region. This session will
provide an overview of the stateof-the-practice in pavement design,
performance and management as
well as recent research developments in Latin America. The session
will address both flexible and rigid
pavements and the latest efforts in the
region for incorporating mechanisticempirical principles in pavement
design.
