May 2015 Everything happened on May 24, Pentecost Sunday! A little Holy Spirit chaos as we baptized one-‐year-‐old Timothy James Campbell into the Church and over thirty of his family and friends came to support him. It was a joy to have so many visitors join us for the morning. One little girl was fascinated by the organ, played by Dick Chadwick. Pawtucket <3 Delta Kappa Phi That same afternoon a work party from UMassLowell Greek Society Delta Kappa Phi volunteered at the church, doing yard work, painting and picking up trash. Thanks to the guys from Delta Kappa Phi, and project leaders Kim Nichols and Louisa Varnum. Also thanks to Louisa for planting the flowers in the boxes by the “tunnel” entrance. At a congregational forum earlier in the month we made plans for some summer activities: a midweek Bible study in members’ homes, a trip into Boston to worship at The Crossing at the Episcopal Cathedral of St Mark on a Thursday evening, an outdoor service at Hawkvalley Farm, outing to the Lowell Spinners’ game on June 25. (If you are interested in any of these please contact Rev. Ruth on [email protected] ) The Community Garden has 9 raised beds this year, all of which are planted and growing. Early salad crops are coming up and peas are on the climb. Jim Otis, one of our gardeners, was our guest musician at the end of May, playing ragtime piano and accordion. Kay’s Place Saturday lunch served 55 meals in May, thanks to volunteers from the church, Pawtucketville Citizens’ Council, the Islamic Society of Greater Lowell and First Church of the Nazarene.
