The Palm Beach International Film Festival announces their new home with an encore
screening of locally filmed Marriage Material
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (April 21, 2015) — The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) and the
Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission (FTC) today announced they will host a special
encore screening of Marriage Material, one of the sold-out hits of the just-completed 20th annual PBIFF,
on Saturday, April 25 at The Palm Beaches Theatre (262 South Ocean Blvd. in the Plaza Del Mar
Shopping Center, Manalapan, Florida). This marks the first event at the former Plaza Theatre, now the
new home of the Palm Beach International Film Festival.
The recently renamed multi-use venue will host movie screenings and live events year-round. “I want to
personally welcome our Palm Beach County community to the festival’s new home and hope they will
open their hearts to fresh possibilities,” said PBIFF’s Board Chair Jeff Davis. “I look forward to working
with our two veteran Executive Vice Presidents, Larry Richman and Darlene Shugart, as we open the
theatre to the public.”
The feature film Marriage Material, starring Saturday Night Live veteran Victoria Jackson and a
number of actors from the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Television, wowed audiences in a
standing-room-only screening at this year’s PBIFF. Saturday’s encore screening will include a red carpet
welcome with the film’s stars Victoria Jackson, Maddy Curley (Stick It, Starting from Scratch,
Chalk It Up) and director/producer/writer Ann Fishman along with other cast and crew members
from the film. “The cast and crew of Marriage Material are thrilled with the outstanding support the
film received from the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, the FTC and PBIFF,”
remarked Night Dove Pictures’ Ms. Fishman, who co-directed the film with Dave De Borde.
“Palm Beach County has been my home for many years and it is not only the best place to live, it is also
the best place I know to work,” Ms. Fishman added. “The FTC and PBIFF have demonstrated a strong
commitment to showcasing local filmmakers. Everyone knows that Victoria Jackson is one of the great
comediennes of her generation. I think that her portrayal of consignment shop owner Iris Carsen in
Marriage Material shows that she is a great actress.”
The FTC is equally excited to welcome audiences to The Palm Beaches Theatre to enjoy a film that was
completely filmed in Palm Beach County, Florida. “Marriage Material is a wonderful independent film
that showcases local talent and the beauty of The Palm Beaches,” said Film Commissioner Chuck Elderd.
“The Film Commission embraces this moment to celebrate the amazing Ann Fishman, her cast and crew.
We congratulate PBIFF on their new home and look forward to partnering in many exciting events that
embrace local filmmakers and the diversity of The Palm Beaches on film.”
The former Plaza Theatre will be the new flagship location of PBIFF. Visitors will also be able to enjoy live
theater, concerts, lectures, art shows, comedy shows, and more throughout the year. In addition, The
Palm Beaches Theatre will host seminars on making films, costumes, editing, sound, and lighting from
professional actors, musicians and Hollywood film studios. Kids and teens will be able to attend classes
on all aspects of the entertainment industry while the venue will boast spaces for performances, parties,
and receptions.
About the Palm Beach International Film Festival
Founded in 1996, The Palm Beach International Film Festival was the brainchild of local business
and civic leaders who felt a film festival would offer an exciting cultural venue for the community,
be a tremendous fundraiser for film and television education, and provide an excellent opportunity
to introduce filmmakers to the area's resources. Today the PBIFF is renowned industry-wide as a
destination for exhibitors to screen films and meet filmmakers, forging a unique partnership with
independent theater owners, film bookers, and distribution outlets from around the country. PBIFF
is committed to fostering these relationships and helping independent filmmakers get their projects
seen by larger audiences.
