Friends of PEC,
With May in the rear view mirror,
summer is upon us, and with that
comes an abundance of outdoor
activities to engage in over the next
several months.
With the Pennsylvania Organization
for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR)
Sojourn Mini‐Grants along with the
Conewango Creek River of the Year
events taking place all summer,
PEC encourages you to get
outdoors and enjoy what the

fact, this weekend is PEC's annual
Environment Ride, a trek that stretches from Lancaster County into Philadelphia. There is
still time to support Team PEC as riders get set to travel either a 65 or 40‐mile course.
May ended with the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards dinner last Wednesday,
an event that honored four local environmental conservation and education programs
throughout the region. We now turn our attention to the Environmental Partnership Dinner,
set to take place in Philadelphia on June 17. We welcome Pennsylvania Department of
Environmental Protection Secretary John Quigley and will honor Pennoni Associates, Inc.
President and CEO Anthony S. Bartolomeo, PE with the PEC Achievement Award. Click on the
invitation below to register or for additional information!
While our regional dinners and outdoor activities played a big part in the last month for PEC,
we also engaged in so much more. Scroll through the links below for a complete listing of all
of PEC's activities from May.

PEC in the News
The momentum behind the Spring Garden Street Greenway program continued, as media
outlets wrote about the 2.2 mile‐long pathway, even raising the question if it may
become Philadelphia's iconic greenway. Meanwhile, PEC announced that it is accepting
applications for the Pocono Forest and Waters Conservation Landscape Mini‐Grants, and the
media was there to cover it. Also, as natural gas drilling continues to be a popular topic of
conversation in Harrisburg and across the state, PEC has been at the forefront of the
discussion as a rational and leading voice.
