Gel polish is a popular alternative to ordinary nail polish. Gel polish is a professional (salon) product despite
being considered similar to nail polish.
Gel polish is mainly used to decorate natural nails quickly and easily. Nail technicians also use it to decorate
artificial nails because it is easy to apply.
Gel polish is popular and widely used in ordinary manicures because it is long-lasting and easy to apply and
remove.
Mereneid Sari gel polishes are light and long-lasting, contain pigments that cover the nail very well and are
available in a number of beautiful colours.
You need the following products to apply Mereneid Sari gel polishes:
● UV or LED lamp,
● Kwik-Soak Clear Gel,
● Kwik-Soak Coloured Gel,
● Residue Remover,
● Acid Free Primer
● Base Coat - Ridgefiller Rose.
You need the following products to remove Mereneid Sari gel polishes:
● Acetone Tip Remover,
● ordinary foil,
● cotton,
● manicure bowl,
● orange stick.
How well does gel polish stay on the nails? That depends on the condition of the natural nails and how well
they are prepared before application. The nail should preferably have a free edge of a couple of millimetres.
Applying Mereneid Sari nail polish:
1) Before you apply gel polish, remove the cuticles from the natural nail, shape it and remove dust and
moisture from the nail plate.
2) The next stage depends on the client’s preferences:
a) Proceed as follows if the purpose of using gel polish is to guarantee long-lasting results:
● apply Acid Free Primer to the natural nail and cover with a clear gel.
b) Proceed as follows if easy removal of the polish is more important to the client than long-lasting
results:
● don't apply any base gel (Kwik-Soak Clear Gel) and apply the coloured gel directly on the
slightly coarsened nail plate after covering it with Acid Free Primer,
OR
● coarsen the nail plate slightly and apply an ordinary base coat in the middle of the nail plate
and then cover with Kwik-Soak Clear gel. (this is the method we used in our video).
NB! Every gel layer should be cured separately under uv lamp for 2-3 minutes or under led lamp for 30-60
sec.
3) No matter which of the methods you chose, you now have to continue by applying the coloured gel. You
can apply it in one or several thin layers. Both layers must be allowed to harden separately under UV or LED
light. It is important that the sticky layer on the gel is not removed. The sticky layer acts as a binder between
this and the next layer of gel.
You must also make sure that none of the gel layers touch the nail wall – to avoid this, you should leave at
least 0.5 mm between the gel layer and the nail wall. If the free edge of the nail is at least a couple of
millimetres long, you must also cover (encase) the end of the free edge with each gel layer. This closes the
end of the nail and guarantees that water and other substances do not end up between the different layers
of gel.
4) The top gel (Kwik-Soak Clear gel) is the last layer applied to the nail. It protects the coloured gel and adds
shine. The sticky layer is removed from the last layer after the gel has hardened and the nails will be
beautifully shiny.
It is possible to make gel polish last longer by protecting your hands at work and at home. Gloves should be
worn during housework and nails should never be used as tools (please use appropriate tools for scratching,
opening items etc.). You should also avoid filing your nails yourself, as this will break the layer of gel that
protects the free edge of the nail, allowing water and other substances to get between the gel and the nail
plate.
Removing Mereneid Sari gel polish:
Please follow all instructions carefully to remove gel polish safely. Don’t rush any of the stages, as your goal is
to remove gel polish without damaging the natural nail.
● Start by pushing back the cuticles. Then use a nail file to remove the top layer of gel polish (the one
that gives shine). This breaks the binding between the top layers of gel.
● We advise you to soak your hands for at least 5 minutes in hot water to loosen the binding between
the different layers of gel, then dry your hands thoroughly and apply nail oil or hand cream around
the cuticles. This prevents the skin from getting too dry.
● The success of the gel polish soaking off process depends on how well (tightly) the cotton pad, which
is moistened with Acetone Tip Remover and wrapped around the finger, is covered with foil. It should
have the same effect as a compress. This step should last at least 15 minutes.
● During the soaking process, make sure that contact between the cotton pad moistened with Acetone
Tip Remover and the skin on the finger is minimal, as otherwise it may damage and burn the skin.
You should either cut the cotton pad into very small pieces or use correct ‘folding techniques’ to
place it under the foil.
● After 15 minutes, remove the foil and cotton by pulling them strongly along the nail plate. You must
reapply the wrap (for at least 10 minutes) if most of the gel does not come off the nail.
● If only few traces of gel are left on the nail plate, use a metal or wooden cuticle pusher to remove the
gel. You have to push lightly without applying pressure to the nail plate or you may end up scraping
off the top layer of the natural nail plate without noticing it.
● The last stage consists of cleaning and polishing the nail plate with a buffer or file (at least 220 grit),
removing dust from the nail plate with a brush, shaping the nail and nourishing the nail plate with
oil.
Natural nails that are strong and healthy can be covered with gel polish again after the removal of old polish.
If this is the case, do not apply nourishing nail oil to the nail plate, as the oil doesn’t let the gel stick to the
nail plate.
