May 2015
Join us in the growing gardens!
Spring is here and we are trying to revive our growing areas. Please
come and join us—please ask your child’s key worker or Sylvie to find
out when.
We really need HELP with DONATIONS too! Please bring us your spare
plant and herb cuttings & seeds, plant vouchers from newspapers
and magazines, or anything that may be useful for gardens such as
bark chippings, compost etc. Thank you!
Family Educational Visits
BOOKING NOW - Science Museum: Thurs 14th May featuring exciting interactive indoor
hands-on galleries called ‘The Garden’ and ‘Pattern Pod’!
Petra and Zurine have organised a visit to the London Science Museum for children 3
years and over accompanied by a parent/carer. Please look out for the letter sent home
and let staff know if you are interested – these visits are always very popular! Please note
we will travel by tube from Seven Sisters Station at 9.15 and will return at 3.30pm. Each
adult needs to have £8.60 on an Oyster Card. Under 5s travel free. Sorry – no buggies.
Join us for Family Learning! Plus Reading and writing class for parents
Do you want to help your child with their reading, writing and
maths? Come and join us on Monday mornings at 9.00am
and Thursday afternoons at 12.30pm. The sessions last for 45
minutes, and include fun learning activities for you and your
child.
These sessions are followed by our reading and writing class
for parents, run by Tania. The classes last for one hour and 45
minutes on both days, and a crèche is provided. The class is
ideal for parents/carers who speak English but who struggle
with reading and writing. Please contact Rachel if you are
interested, or just come along!
Dental health day
Our next dental health day is coming up soon!
One of our dental health advisors will be talking to children and
parents across all parts of the centre about how to keep our teeth
strong and healthy, and how to prevent dental decay.
We will also be giving out free toothbrushes to all children —so make
sure you remember to collect yours!
Happy Children, Happy Parents!
Come and talk with Petra and Sylvie about how you can:

Understand your child’s feelings

Support your child to manage their behaviour

Reduce your stress levels!
Wednesday 13 May and Wednesday 20 May, 1pm to 3pm in the
portacabin.
Let us know if you would like to join us!
Nursery Class
Staff are helping children to understand their own feelings and those of others.
Please help by talking to your child about feeling happy, sad or angry.
International Day—Saturday 27 June, 12 noon to 3pm
Come and celebrate the different cultures at Pembury with music,
food and activities for all! More information to follow soon!
World Book Night Books
To those of you who have received the gift of a free
book when we gave them away last week – we really
hope you enjoy your book. When you have read it, you
can choose to keep it or pass it on. We have an adult
library trolley in the reception area on our main site for
swapping books.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers
Please bring in your Sainsbury’s vouchers—we are collecting
them so that we can buy equipment to promote healthy eating
and exercise in the nurseries!
