Please check your child's classroom window or door for club lists. There are still spaces available for:Reception Music & Movement Reception Story Club Reception Stay & Play Year 1 Construction Club Year 2 Construction Club Cricket Club Sports Days Infant Site Sports Day: save the date! The children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 will be having their sports day during the afternoon of Wednesday the 8th of July (details to follow). Children in the Nursery will be having their Sports Fun Day separately and Mrs Bush will communicate details of the event with parents and carers of those children. Outdoor Play Area We are making an outdoor building site role play area, so if anyone has anything they could donate - old tools, jackets, hard hats, orange fencing, etc, we would be grateful! Donations to come to office. We will sort through inappropriate stuff, but don't want to give a list of don'ts. Health and Safety Please can parents ensure that your children do not climb trees, walls or fences at the beginning and end of the school day. Contact Details If you change your phone number or any contact details please remember to inform the school offices. Nepal Earthquake Many thanks for your donations to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal. We will let you have the grand total as soon as possible. The total donated to date is £656.35 and this does not include the money from the children’s cake stall. Junior Items Cake Stall Well done to Christopher Jolly and friends who raised £45.00 for their chosen ‘good cause’ CLEAR. Writing challenge Write your own story with this as the title: How can someone get lost twice in a day? All entries to Mr. Hitchens by Friday 8th May, and there will be a reward for every entry. Tag Rugby Tournament: Today 12 children were selected to represent the school at the local Tag Rugby Tournament at the College. Well done to all those children involved. Details to follow next week. Class Photographs If you have not yet ordered your class photographs, the order will be collected from school on Monday 11 th May. Year 6 Hoodies and Homework Books Please can all orders for Year 6 Hoodies and all homework books be returned to school next week. Thank you. Drama Club This term our Drama Club have been helping to celebrate the ‘lost theatres’ of Cornwall otherwise known as Plen an Gwaris. It is believed that one of these lost sites is in Penryn but yesterday the Drama Club took a visit to a Plen an Gwari in St Just to act out one of the oldest play scripts written in the UK, a play script which was also written in Penryn! In total ten schools from around Cornwall took part in this spectacle which was a great success. Hockey If any children are interested in playing hockey, Falmouth Hockey Club have started a junior coaching session on Thursdays 6-7pm at Penryn College. For further information please contact Jeanette on 01326 315958. Sessions will cost £2. Coffee Morning Next coffee morning will be on Monday 1st June. No coffee morning on 5th May. Currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant for Penryn Primary Academy School –This role is 7.5 hours per week; Monday – Friday term time only, plus three cleaning days a year. Working as part of a small close knit team. You will be assisting the Catering Manager with basic food prep, serving of meals and maintaining standards of Food Hygiene and Health and Safety. Training will be given, uniform and safety shoes will be provided. Pay rate of £6.6950 per hour. Pay is pro rata of 38 weeks term time and 4 weeks holiday, paid over 12 months.
