2015 Petersville Regatta NOTICE OF RACE 27th - 30th December 2015 Organising Authority BLAIRGOWRIE YACHT SQUADON 2900 Point Nepean Road, Blairgowrie 3942, Victoria Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron is proud to invite all competitors to the 2015 Petersville Regatta to be held at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula from the 27th – 30th December 2015. 1 1.1 1.2 1.3 RULES The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing The prescriptions and special regulations of Yachting Australia (YA) Part 1 Category 5 will apply The International Rules for Prevention of Collision at Sea, 1976, apply in all races between sunset and sunrise replacing the relevant parts of Rules Part 2. 2 ADVERTISING Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 3.1 3.2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY The regatta is open to keel boats which meet the clause 1.2 above. To be eligible to compete in the regatta, the helmsperson shall be a current financial member of a yacht club affiliated to Yachting Australia or another National Authority. Proof of club membership for each helmsperson shall be indicated on the entry form. Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and submitting it, together with the required fee, by Friday 4th December 2015 to: Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron Sailing Office PO Box 13 Blairgowrie Victoria, 3942 Entries may be submitted online at www.petersvilleregatta.com.au Late entries may be accepted under the following conditions: Received prior to 1700 hours on Friday 18th December 2015 Payment of late entry fee. The regatta is restricted to 80 boats. Eligible boats wishing to enter IMS shall indicate this on their entry form. Boats entering IRC shall send a current IMS certificate with their entry form. Late Entry Fee $150.00 SCHEDULE OF RACES Registration and Skippers Briefing: 1500hrs - 1900hrs on Sunday 27th December 2015 at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. Dates of racing: 28th December – Racing and cruising division races 29th December – Racing and Twilight trophy Race 30th December – Racing and cruising division races Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series. (a) When fewer than four races have bene completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When four or more races have bene completed, a boats series scores will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. Presentation to be held as soon as possible after racing on the 30th December 2015 On the last day of the regatta, no warning signal will be made after 1500 hours. 6 MEASUREMENT IMS Division- Each boat wishing to compete in the IMS division shall produce a valid rating certificate prior to the first race. IRC Division – Each boat wishing to compete in the IRC division shall produce a valid rating certificate prior to the first race. 7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available prior to Wednesday 23rd December 2015 on the Petersville Regatta website. 8 VENUE Attachment A shows the location of the regatta harbour and racing areas. 9 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be described in the sailing instructions. 10 SUPPORT BOATS All support boats shall be marked with their assigned flag available from the BYS Sailing Office. 11 BERTHING Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in the Blairgowrie Safe Harbour. 12 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 12 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS Underwater breather apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta. 13 RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 14 14.1 14.2 14.3 PRIZES Prizes will be presented for line and for first, second and third on general handicap for all divisions Prizes will be presented for first, second and third on IMS handicap for the IMS division. Eight (8) boats must start the first race in each division for a third prize to be awarded. 15 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5000000.00 per incident or the equivalent 16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk and are responsible for the seaworthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted and for the sufficiency and adequacy of its equipment. Neither BYS, their servants nor volunteers shall accept liability or responsibility whatsoever for death or any personal or material injury or damage sustained by a participant before, during or after a race or series of races.
