2015 S.A SAILING EDEN DISTRICT INTER SCHOOLS REGATTA will be sailed at George Lakes Yacht Club Lower Langvlei (Island Lake, Wilderness) From Saturday 28th to Sunday 29th March 2015 NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), The Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS), the applicable Class Rules, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions. 2 CAMPING Camping is available at no charge to all competitors and family at the George Lakes Yacht Club from Friday, 27th March to Sunday 29th March 2015. The club will supply braai fires on Saturday evening. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY Junior and High schools can enter teams in any dinghy class having a hull length less than 4.8m. Home Schoolers may also enter as teams, subject to bona fide proof of education level. School teams may enter by completing the attached entry form and presenting it at registration together with the required entry fee 4 FEES The required entrance fee is R100 per single handed boat, R150 per two person boat. 5 5.1 SCHEDULE Registration: Entries shall be submitted to the Regatta Secretary at the venue from 10:00 on Saturday 28th March 2015 until 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the first race. 5.2 Racing: 5.2.1 A voluntary briefing is scheduled to take place at 12:15 on Saturday 28th March 2015 in front of the clubhouse. 5.2.2 The first race is scheduled to start at 13:00 on Saturday 28th March 2015. The times for subsequent races will be advised. No warning signal will be made after 14:30 on Sunday 29th March 2015. 5.3 Number of Races: As many races as possible will be completed during the event. At least three races are required for the event. 6 MEASUREMENTS Boats may be requested to produce a valid registration/ measurement certificate. 7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available from the Regatta Secretary on completion of registration formalities. 8 VENUE Racing will take place from George Lakes Yacht Club on Lower Langvlei, 3km east of Wilderness near George. 9 THE COURSES The course sheets will be published in the Sailing Instructions. 10 PENALTY SYSTEM For all dinghy classes RRS 44.1 and 44.2 shall apply. 11 SCORING 11.1. The Low Point System of Appendix A 4.1 and the SAS handicapping system (based on 11.2. 11.3. 12 Portsmouth yardstick) will apply. Team scoring will be done by means of the Sailwave team scoring facility on the basis of three boats per school team. There will be no discards. SAFETY 12.1. Yachts shall comply with their class buoyancy and safety requirements. 12.2. All competitors shall wear a personal buoyancy aid at all times while afloat in a yacht; this aid shall be capable of supporting a 5Kg. steel weight 13 RADIO COMMUNICATION A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 14 PRIZES Floating trophies and other prizes will be presented at the Prize Giving, which will follow as soon as possible after the last race. 15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race.
