In addition to her policy and change management background, her career has also

Marni Tivy
Ministry of Labour Health and Safety Policy Regulatory Updates
Marni is a Senior Policy Advisor with the Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety Policy
Branch.
She has extensive work experience in the area of occupational health and safety policy and
regulation development as well as practical experience in the application of the legislation.
Marni began her career with the Ministry as an Industrial Health and Safety Inspector and
has worked on a wide variety of health and safety projects during her career with the
Ministry.
She is the lead advisor on the Ministry’s recent consultations on proposed changes to
occupational exposure limits, new construction occupational health initiatives and the
Ministry’s all-sector regulatory proposal with respect to noise.
Marni holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of
Science from Queen’s University.
The Ministry of Labour is proposing to strength health and safety of workers with some new
regulatory proposals. For example one proposal will address exposure to noise, biological and
chemical agents and carbon monoxide release from internal combustion engines in the construction
sector. Building on the Ministry's proposal to introduce noise requirements for construction workers,
this package proposes to further extend noise protection requirements to all remaining Ontario
workplaces, under the OHSA that are not covered by the Industrial, Oil and Gas-Offshore and
Mining Plants regulations.
Stacy Richardson, CRSP
Foreign Body in Eye
Stacy has been working at 3M Canada for over 15 years holding a number of technical positions of
increasing responsibility over the years. She currently supports several Personal Protective Products

of our eyes and ensure that our vision lasts a lifetime. Stacy will review the most common types of
eye injuries, explore why these occur and show some recommended practices and eyewear that can
reduce or eliminate eye injuries in many cases.

The proposed amendments are part of a broader national and international initiative to implement a
world-wide system of classifying and providing information about hazardous workplace chemicals,

number of jurisdictions are in the process of implementing the GHS, including the United States,
Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, China, Japan and South Korea.
This is your opportunity to learn about amendments to WHMIS and the OHSA and how they will
affect you. In addition, you will have the opportunity to get answers to questions and issues of most
concern to you.
