(Do not register for PHPP 528. You will be assigned a class time for PHPP 528 and our office will register you for this specific course.) If you were awarded financial aid, you will not have your classes cancelled. Please note that you will proceed through your classes as a cohort and therefore there is no competition for a seat in the classes. TUITION PAYMENT The deadline for tuition will depend when you register for classes and also if you are receiving financial aid through UH Hilo. After registering for classes, you will be able to pay for your tuition online with either a Visa or MasterCard. You may choose to pay with a check, money order or cash at the Cashier Office. An installment payment plan is also available (http://hilo.hawaii.edu/uhh/bo/cashier/InstallmentPaymentPlan.php). Please mark your calendars with the respective payment deadlines as no letter or notice will be sent to you. If you are receiving financial aid, your financial aid award will be applied to your tuition before the final deadline, September 14, 2015. Funds received in excess of institutional charges will be refunded to you. You will receive a refund check at the mailing address currently on file with the university. To eliminate mailing time, you may request that the refund be sent directly to your bank account. You may sign up for eRefunds via the MyUH portal from https://myuh.hawaii.edu/cp/home/displaylogin. You are strongly encouraged to participate in eRefunds. HOUSING If you are still looking for housing be sure to visit the off-campus housing website: http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/housing/offcampus/ and the DKICP Class of 2019’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/722035484498453/. The DKICP Facebook page is a great way to get in touch with other classmates especially if you are looking for a housemate. As housing ads come to our office, we will post it online. Please note that we do not endorse any realtor, individuals, or dwellings. TRANSPORTATION/PARKING Having reliable transportation is important. Hilo does not offer a public transport system that can get you to your rotation sites and back. Most students have a car or moped to get themselves around. Shipping cars is possible (cost is around $1000-$1500 from the mainland). Students also Page 4 of 5 purchase cars once they arrive. In addition to car dealerships, listings may be found at Hawaii Tribune Herald’s classifieds or Craigslist. UH Hilo parking permits for parking lots are available on a firstcome, first-served basis after registering for classes. A parking permit is not necessary as there is ample free parking along A’ohoku Street. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK As stated in the medical matriculation letter (http://pharmacy.uhh.hawaii.edu/currentstudents/documents/firstyear/Letter2019.pdf) you will need to report to Hilo Medical Center for both a criminal background check and a drug screening. Please do not contact them. An HMC representative will contact each of you based on your indicated arrival date and when they are ready to schedule these appointments. This will happen once you are physically on island and may occur during orientation week or early in the Fall semester. Please do not try to change or adjust your appointment time unless there is a serious emergency. Hilo Medical Center is very busy and they need to process 80-90 students. We appreciate your willingness to adapt to the schedule they provide. CHANGE OF CONTACT INFORMATION Please update your contact information including email, phone numbers, and mailing address on MyUH.
