Associate Pastor
Park Hill Baptist Church
April 11–12, 2015
LETTER FROM THE PASTOR
Outreach, missions, and pastoral care are an important part of Park Hill Baptist
Church. In recent weeks God has been at work in the process of seeking a
competent leader for this area of our church. Prayer, intentionality, and many
hours have been a part of the journey.
I am excited to share that the Associate Pastor Search Committee will be
recommending Mark Hobson to join our church staff. With this mailing you
will find information that will be helpful in getting better acquainted with Mark
and his family.
Please study the information provided in this mailing. Let me encourage you to
plan to be with us on the ‘view of a call’ weekend, April 11-12 to meet Mark and
his wife, Melissa. You will find in the schedule of weekend events an opportunity
for you to personally greet and visit with Mark.
Mark is a man who has a deep commitment and love for the Lord. It was under
the leadership of Dr. Bob Harper at First Baptist Church in White Hall, Arkansas,
that Mark and Melissa felt God’s calling to full-time vocational ministry. Mark
and his family have faithfully followed God’s call and direction in their life.
Sharing the gospel, caring for people, casting vision, and enjoying his family are
all a part of what I see in this man. He brings with him a desire to grow, connect
and impact our local community with the good news of Christ.
I, along with the search committee, have sensed God’s hand and leadership in
these months leading up to this recommendation. I ask that you make this a
matter of prayer for our church as well as for the Hobson family.
Devotedly Your Pastor,

MARK’S PERSONAL STATEMENT
Although I did not have the opportunity to experience the blessings of a
Christian home early in my life, I came to know Jesus Christ at the age of 23.
In 2004 God began calling my family to full time vocational ministry through the
International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. My wife and I
were appointed with the IMB in 2007. Having had the opportunity to minister
to people in three different Latin American countries, we believe God is now
leading us to return to the United States.
While I have delighted in the privilege of serving the Lord as a Southern
Baptist missionary, I have begun to sense that God is calling me to serve as a
local church pastor. My heart is to guide a congregation in active participation
of The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36–40) and Great Commission
(Matthew 28–19–20). My desire is a long-term ministry investing in the life of a
local congregation while growing together in our walk with the Lord.

settings with frequency in the United States, Argentina, and Colombia. These
opportunities have included both English and Spanish speaking congregations.
