Deadline: April 24, 2015 at noon Number of 3-6 Positions: Rate of Pay: $13.00 - $15.00/hour Position Start May 3, 2014 Date: Position End June 22, 2014 Date: Number of Hours 1.5 - 3 per week: Classification: Non Union, Casual The Steve Nash Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with the development, Summary: delivery of the curriculum for their program and for the general safety, security and enjoyment of basketball for participants in the program. We are looking for responsible, energetic and creative people, who work well with children and who are completely committed to providing a safe environment for our participants. Coaches will be required to teach skills, run drills, organize league games and scrimmages. Experience in coaching and instruction of children 6 - 12 years old is an asset. Responsible for building and maintaining positive group dynamics and ensuring that all children participate, learn and enjoy their time in the program Ensure that all children are treated with fairness, respect and understanding, Assist in curriculum design and delivery. Assist in facilitating the inclusion of children with disabilities into the program Ensure that all program and facility rules are met Ensure that they are in compliance with all Faculty policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Minimum of one year of post - secondary education completed. Preference is given to candidates in senior years, post graduate or with teaching or coaching certificates Experience: One to two years instructing basketball to children. Experience instructing in a university environment preferred Other: Candidate MUST be available Sunday mornings, 9a.m. – noon. May 3 - June 21 , no class May 17 (Victoria day weekend) Standard First Aid certificate from Red Cross, Lifesaving Society or St. John’s Ambulance issued not more than 3 years prior to the end of the letter of offer. Proof of registration in a recertification may be requested. Basic Rescuer/Level C CPR certificate issued not more than 1 year prior to the end of the letter of offer. Proof of registration in a recertification course may be requested. Skills: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or leadership. Demonstrated experience in basketball. NCCP certification preferred. Responsible, energetic, excellent customer service skills, adaptability and strong teamwork skills are required. Ability to work with people with diverse abilities, ethnicities and sexual orientations is essential.
