APPRECIATING OUR TEACHERS
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4—8, and we are celebrating with a
baseball theme for our Pikesville Teacher All-Stars.
This is a great opportunity to give your teachers a Shout Out! by printing the attached baseball-themed Shout-Out! paper and writing messages of appreciation (see attachments).
You can also express your thanks by restocking classroom supplies
such as tissues, hand sanitizer, and baby wipes.
Your support is always appreciated. Thank you Team Pikesville!
DON’T MISS IT!
Hairspray Jr. will be presented on May 7 and May 8 at
7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Tickets are $10.00 per person and can be purchased at the

great show!

8TH GRADE RESIDENCY REQIREMENTS
All eighth grade students are required to show proof of residency in preparation for high school in the
fall. Residency re-verification letters have been sent out to the parents/guardians of all 8th grade students. Parents/guardians must submit proof of residency to the guidance office before Friday, June 6.
Please contact the guidance secretary, Sharon Motley, if you have any questions: 410-887-6725.
HEALTH SUITE NEWS
Please be aware that the Health Suite does not have allergy medication to relieve symptoms for itchy
eyes or the miserable “stuffy nose” related to springtime allergies. Please medicate your child with
allergy medication at home before he/she comes to school Also, springtime allergies can exacerbate
asthma. Please bring a doctor’s order and the medication to school if an inhaler is needed by your
child, and one is not already in the health suite.
Newly Required Vaccinations:
At the start of the 2015-16 school year all 7th and 8th grade students will be r equir ed to have the
Meningococcal vaccine (Menactra) and a booster dose of Tdap (also called Boostrix or Adacel). Most
children receive these vaccines at the age of 10 or 11 years of age. Parents of current 6th graders are
encouraged to check with their child’s health care provider to see if they have received these vaccines.
If your child is missing either or both of these vaccines please schedule an appointment with your
healthcare provider. Once completed, please provide verification of immunizations to the school
nurse. A letter has been sent home to each current 6th grader who is missing one or both of these vaccines. Included in this letter is a copy of your child’s current immunization record from the student’s
health file at school. Please direct questions or concerns to the school nurse, Angela Prestandrea:
[email protected] 410-484-9347.

Dear Students and Parents,
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4 – 8, and we are celebrating with a baseball theme for our Pikesville
Teacher All-Stars. You may notice your teachers wearing their Practice Gear (casual clothes) throughout the
week. Other special surprises are also planned for teachers, thanks to support from the Family Association and
community volunteers.
Give your teacher a Shout Out! Print copies of this page and write messages of appreciation for your teachers.
Place your Shout Outs in the collection box in front of the main office. We will cut them out and display them
throughout the halls for your teachers to read. Print as many pages as you would like. Additional copies will be
available in school. Share them all week long. Your comments mean a lot to your awesome teachers! Go
Pythons!
Thank you Team Pikesville!
