SPECIFIC MESSAGE TO MEMBERS OF THE INDIAN AND SRI LANKAN COMMUNITIES
If you are a woman aged 50-74 and have never had a mammogram, find out the facts and book a FREE
screen at BreastScreen NSW by calling 13 20 50.

If you have had a mammogram, make sure you have a follow up screen every 2 years.
Other members of the family and community can help by encouraging their female family members and
friends, aged 50-74, to find out about mammograms and book a free mammogram at BreastScreen NSW
by calling 13 20 50.

Q. Is there a role for husbands, sons and daughters and others?
A. Family members can be strong drivers for change. Many successful survivor stories involve family
members (who sometimes hear about a campaign or find a reminder letter from BreastScreen NSW) prompting
their wife, sister, mother or grandmother to attend breast screening. Friends of women aged 50 to 74 can also
encourage breast screening by sharing positive messages and experiences and accompanying others to their
breast screening appointment when they may need support.
Q. How can people find out more?
A. You can find out more about Pink Sari Project by visiting www.pinksariproject.org or if you have a
specific question about the project, please contact MHCS on 02 9816 0347.
