Introduction and Overview
Background
The pharmaceutical development pathway is
rarely smooth and critics are sometimes quick to
lay blame at the feet of the project manager.
More objective observers, however, are well
aware of the many hazards lying in wait. This
workshop will look at some of these hazards and
suggest ways to identify and avoid them. They
include failure to identify the customers’ real
requirements as opposed to their stated
requirements and the distractions encountered by
sponsors and stakeholders. Also to be considered
are the strains put upon a functional expert asked
– or told – to assume the role of project manager,
what happens when risk is not managed in real
time and what happens when we forget the
infernal triangle of time, cost and quality in our
drive for performance standards whilst keeping
within project scope.
In short, how do we Keep
Calm and Carry on?
