JOB POSTING: Adult and Physical Literacy Programmer (temporary from May 1-October 30, 2015) PISE (The Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) opened in 2008 as the first summer sport institute in Canada and is an independent not for profit organization located on the Camosun College Interurban campus. The Institute brings together excellence in community sport and active healthy living development, sport and exercise education, sport technology research, and world-class athlete performance services. PISE, in collaboration with its partners the Canadian Sport Institute and Camosun College, serves the community, students, high performance athletes and coaches from across the region, province and country to provide world class training, education, testing, and applied research and innovation services together within a state of the art facility. PISE is a recognized leader in community sport and active healthy living development through the delivery of high quality programs and education to the community based on the principles of Canadian Sport 4 Life (CS4L), including an emphasis on Physical Literacy for Youth and Active for Life for all adults. PISE plays a lead role managing Commonwealth Legacy funding support and services for high performance athletes and sport in the CRD through the development and maintenance of world class facilities and training environments. To achieve this role PISE works in close partnership with Canadian Sport Institute and with national team sports training in the CRD through a High Performance Advisory Group. Description of Position: This role will assist the Community Program Manager with all adult programming as well as assist the Physical Literacy Coordinator with all physical literacy Programs. Adult Programmer Roles & Responsibilities: Email program participants and database about upcoming programs Create marketing collateral for all programs Assist with editting program guides published 3 times per annum Assist Marketing and Communications Coordinator with updating all program information on website as needed Handling phone/in-person inquiries, registration using PISE’s point of sale system and client follow-ups in regards to PISE programs Responsible for grant disbursement Oversee the marketing and promotion of SportStart Grant in the community (schools, events) Write, edit and update external contracts Light cleaning and room set ups as necessary for special events and programs Assist with facility tours for shool groups, clients, etc Physical Literacy Programmer Roles & Responsibilities: Work as part of a team programming and delivering safe and engaging physical literacy programs for children and youth Be familiar with physical literacy, grade-appropriate curriculum goals and the Candian Sport for Life LTAD model Deliver fundamental movement and fundamental sport skills JOB POSTING: Adult and Physical Literacy Programmer (temporary from May 1-October 30, 2015) Assist with Summer Camp deliver and programming Organize equipment set-up/take-down for all physical literacy sports/activities Ensure a safe environment for the children, both physically and emotionally Administer first aid if necessary Required Qualifications: Post-secondary education in either Kinesiology, Child/youth services, Sport Management, Leadership/Coaching or other related field Intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Previous use of a point of sale system for program registration, i.e. Class, Active Net At least one year of programming/lesson planning experience Experience with mentoring or supervising team members in a team environment Experience participating in and leading a variety of sports/athletic activities Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen dated within the past 6 months (or ability to have this Check completed prior to hiring) NCCP FMS and HIGH Five are an asset Understanding of the Canadian Sport for Life LTAD model is an asset Access to a vehicle for transportation to/from external delivery locations Compensation and Benefits: This position carries a total compensation package which includes $16 per hour and 4% in lieu of vacation, a complimentary fitness center membership for employee and spouse, free parking and a workplace culture that fosters health and wellness within a state of the art, LEED certified facility. Reports to: Community Program Manager and Interim Physical Literacy Coordinator Commitment: Temporary, full-time from May 1, 2015 – October 30, 2015 with the possibility of permanent, salaried employment with extended health and dental benefits thereafter.
