Project Manager – Equitable Education Spending Position Description Pivot Learning Partners is a nonprofit organization of K-­‐12 education experts working shoulder-­‐
to-­‐shoulder with schools, districts and charters to address the biggest challenges they face. We partner with education leaders at all levels and provide them with the knowledge, skills and support proven to strengthen educational systems and transform teaching and learning. We are currently seeking multiple Project Managers to join our Equitable Education Spending team. These positions will be responsible for managing service delivery of our education finance work in one or more school districts across California. They will contribute to Pivot Learning Partners’ efforts to develop and scale Pivot’s approach to education finance reform and its alignment with instructional improvement and educational equity. With the Executive Director, Equitable Education Spending, they will develop, document, test, disseminate and market a variety of tools, materials and programs related to equitable education spending at the state, district and school levels. They will be responsible for executing complex projects that include for-­‐profit, foundation, nonprofit, school district and county office of education stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience doing cutting edge education reform work at the intersection of nonprofits, for-­‐profits, foundations and public institutions and to get in on the “ground floor” of exciting work in education finance just now entering California. The ideal candidate would be committed to Pivot’s mission, and be able to demonstrate strong project management, service delivery, communication and analytic skills. Experience working in or for schools, districts or charters and/or knowledge of district and school budgeting or education finance reform a plus. These would be two-­‐year full-­‐time positions that would be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or greater Los Angeles area and would report to the Executive Director, Equitable Education Spending. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Executing on deliverables of complex, grant-­‐funded projects, which includes direct service delivery work in one or more school districts across California in areas of education finance such as resource allocation, strategic planning, data analysis, technology integration, and others - Leading and implementing Pivot’s education finance work in a school district, including successfully managing the relationship with the district and the project scope, schedule and budget - Project and program management –managing both the scope, schedule and budget for the project while maintaining the overall conceptual direction of Pivot’s education finance program 731 Market Street, 4th Floor San Francisco, CA. 94103 T 415.644.3400 F 415.644.0213 pivotlearningpartners.org

Strategically linking Pivot’s work with tools and resources that have emerged from a national, multi-­‐partner initiative to improve strategic school district budgeting, ultimately developing and delivering an integrated and enhanced toolset of services with our district partners. This will include receiving training from a world-­‐class consulting firm that has been a key partner on establishing the original proof points for the national project and scaling the work in California. Contributing to the creation of the cutting-­‐edge tools, materials and programs that will keep Pivot on the forefront of equitable education spending service providers. Collaborating and consulting with others across the organization to maintain the Pivot quality and brand, alignment between program areas and to document programs, to develop, prototype and pilot tools and materials, and to successfully communicate lessons learned to others in organization. Coordinating closely with other projects taking place in overlapping districts or networks. Successfully collaborating and communicating with nonprofit, for-­‐profit, school district and county office of education stakeholders. In addition, this person will be expected to contribute to: - Dissemination of Pivot’s education finance work in California and nationally. - Developing learning and training opportunities for Pivot staff members on relevant project and policy topics. - Writing white papers, articles and blogs related to finance policy to raise Pivot’s profile related to finance policy and reform. High computer literacy. Desirable Experience, Knowledge and Skills: - Knowledge of or experience in district or school budgeting. - Experience working in or with school districts, especially around LCFF or LCAP. - Experience in or knowledge of K-­‐12 public education finance reform and public sector change. - Experience in consulting or related field. - Experience with designing or implementing technology solutions and/or with online collaboration. - Experience designing learning experiences and delivering trainings for adult learners. - Public policy interest or experience. - Research experience and skills. - Master’s degree or higher. - Bi-­‐Lingual a plus.
