M22 of 2015

MILLENNIUM FOOTBRIDGE
REDUCED HEAD ROOM
21ST & 22ND APRIL 2015
Contractors working on behalf of the City of London will be conducting surveys on the
Millennium Footbridge on the 21st and 22nd April 2015. In order to facilitate these works the
head room of the bridge will be reduced by no more than 2 metres.
The reduced headroom in the main navigational arch (Arch No 2) will reduce the bridge
height to: 13.8m above Chart Datum or 6.9m above Mean High Water Springs.
Where the headroom is reduced the contractor will suspend a bundle of straw beneath the
bridge in accordance with the Port of London Authority Thames Byelaws 2012 namely:


By Day – A bundle of straw large enough to be easily visible and displayed at the
height of restricted headroom;
By Night – A white light in place of the bundle of straw
Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.
