Cadette, Senior and Ambassador troops may choose recognitions or patches and 5 cents extra per box sold. COOKIES FOR THE COMMUNITY: Every girl scout is encouraged to ask her customer, after they have placed their order, to buy an additional box of cookies to be donated to: • Local Food Pantry – customers write name/phone on line write # of boxes donated in the white column. If customers have not ordered other cookies, they should pay for their donation at this time. Cookie varieties to be donated should be selected by the cookie manager to make full cases of each variety for the initial sale • Operation: Cookie – These donations should also be recorded in the white column on the girl order card & marked "OC." It is your responsibility to make all arrangements. Your Service Unit Cookie Manager will give you the name of the other Service Unit Cookie Managers. Step #4 Call the cupboard where you will pick up cookies for the booth sale, at least 1 week prior to your pick-up, with the date, time and location of your sale. This must be done by the date listed on the Booth Authorization Form or your troop will be charged for all cookies taken. Receive Booth Sale Patches. If all cookies are sold, please call the cupboard and let them know you have no cookies to return, & the date and amount of your deposit. Cookie Manager. • Arranges troop cookie booth sales. • Collects payments, makes timely deposits and completes forms. • Assists girls, parents, and leaders with problems or questions for the duration of the sale. • Informs Service Unit Cookie Manager of any problems or concerns. • Picks-up recognitions from S.U. Booth Sales are a great way to help your troop meet its financial goals and help Girls achieve their individual goals, too. The cookies sold at a Booth Sale should be equally divided among all Girl Scouts who participate in the sale. The Girls can then use those cookie points toward receiving the award(s) that they want. Holding Booth Sales also gets you closer to making the 21st Century Super Troop Award (see page 6). Plan a Booth Sale for a day and time that the location you choose is busiest. Advertise Ask the Manager at your Booth Sale location if you can display a poster a week before your sale. Use the window posters provided with your materials at training. Decorate Use your GOAL poster to show your customers what the troop will do with the funds raised at the Booth Sale. Decorate your table. Dress up in the Cookie costume (available at the Cookie Cupboard, please reserve in advance). Display cookie packages. Have the Girls in Uniform. Smile! Share the troop's goals with customers. Involve a lot of Girls, share the work and the rewards! After booking a Booth Sale, make a schedule of the hours that you will be selling and invite all of your Girls to sign up! Let Girls commit to a 1 to 2 hour time slot. That spreads out the work and allows more Girls to share in the cookie points generated from the sale. 14 Girl Scouting teaches girls to connect with and care for their community. Our Council's special project "Cookies for the Community" will focus on areas of need. Girls should be encouraged to ask each customer to buy one extra box of cookies to be donated to either the local food pantry, or to the service men and women stationed overseas through "Operation: Cookie". (See page 11 of this book for more information.) Walk-About Weekends: Your neighbors want Girl Scouits to ask them to buy cookies. On Saturdays and Sundays in April — Join Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, by doing a walk-about sale in your neighborhood. Have your whole troop participate to increase your troop's cookie sale profit and earn additional points toward your girls' cookie recognitions and leader booth sale incentives. Giving people the opportunity to donate to such a noble cause makes them feel good. This campaign lasts throughout the cookie campaign, from January through May. Walk-About Weekends: Girls and Adults Get "Fit Together" Great opportunity for girls and adults to get fit together, earn awards and money for your Girl Scout troop. Back by POPULAR DEMAND, the EASY booth sale. Point System For Selecting Recognitions: Each girl earns one point for every box that she sells. She may use her points to choose awards from any point level, as long as the total awards that she picks does not exceed her points. For example, 150 boxes=150 points. CONTACT TROOP LEADER FOR TROOP ROSTER - obtain all girls' and parents' (or guardians') names, addresses and phone numbers. WEEK OF MARCH 3 - delivery of cookies. You will be notified by your Service Unit Cookie Manager when and where to pick up cookies. Count cases carefully before signing for them. NOTIFY GIRLS TO PICK UP COOKIES - separate cookies into individual girl orders. Have each girl and her parent/guardian recount cookies and sign your T-1A for the number and variety of cookies received. Be sure adult is aware they are now responsible for cookies they signed for. Capitol One Bank - use ONLY those deposit slips pre-printed with numbers designated for your Troop. Do not use last year's deposit slips or those with other troop numbers. Call the Council Office 543-6622 ext. 242 and request additional deposit slips. Do not use a generic bank slip or another troop's slip. YOU WILL RECEIVE 2 DEPOSIT SLIPS BACK FROM THE BANK. FORWARD ONE COPY of each deposit slip to your Service Unit Cookie Manager. Retain a copy for the troop’s records. DO NOT THROW AWAY DEPOSIT SLIPS! CHECKS - all checks must be made payable to the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. Checks must have name, address and phone number of customer, and troop and service unit number on them. Endorse check with: "For Deposit Only, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County" and write the account number that appears on the deposit slip (last 10 digits). There will be a $30 service fee for all unpaid returned checks. HAVING PROBLEMS COLLECTING FUNDS? - after all efforts have been made, complete an Outstanding Cookie Account form, (your S.U. manager has them) attach required paper work (parent permission slip and signed troop worksheet) and forward to Council Headquarters no later than April 22. CONTINUE TO FILL GIRLS' CATCH-UP ORDERS UNTIL APRIL 19 - pick up additional cookies at the nearest cupboard. Payment of catch-up orders is due 2 weeks after receiving cookies. GIRLS & TROOPS MAY PURCHASE COOKIES from April 23 to May 8. PLACE TROOP RECOGNITION ORDER - hand in to your Service Unit Cookie Manager by April 22. CONGRATULATE GIRLS - Receive girl awards from S.U. Cookie manager & distribute to the girls in June. Congratulate them on reaching their goals. MAKE SURE YOUR Service Unit Cookie Manager has a copy of every deposit slip. SHOW GIRLS THE COOKIE CLUB INFORMATION ON THEIR ORDER CARDS... IT'S FUN TO JOIN! ASSIST WITH GOAL-SETTING - have girls set individual and troop goals. PREPARE TROOP ORDER FORM (T-2A) AND LIST OF COOKIE STARS, AND FORWARD TO YOUR SERVICE UNIT COOKIE MANAGER NO LATER THAN FEB. 8 - total the girls' orders on form (T-1A) and transfer total cases of each variety needed to form T-2A. Order only enough to fill your orders, including cookies for the local food pantry. Do not order booth sale cookies on this form. Loose boxes to complete your initial order will be available for pick up at the nearest cupboard the week of March 3. Do not round-up order. (See page 13 for cupboard locations and hours).
