Plum Creek Bat Exclusion Efforts Timeline – Revised/Corrected
First bat seen
2nd Grade Musical bats were seen in cafetorium
LISD Maintenance sealed visible entry locations
Letter sent home to parents from Principal
Purchase Order (9360051961) was issued to Blackmon Mooring, $6500
Blackmon Mooring sanitized the ductwork; replaced ceiling tiles with new
tiles in computer lab; vacuumed the area inside the ceiling with air-scrubber
to eliminate dust that may contain any guana remnant; sanitized the ducts
Requested all staff and students to leave the building in the afternoon;
Blackmon Mooring applied additional disinfectant to affected areas and
themo-fog above ceiling tiles; removed more sheetrock in hallway and
disinfected those areas.
TASB representative’s email states that they do not have an air quality test
for bats/guano
Commerical Bat Control provided proposal for exclusion services
Blackmon Mooring returned to continue air sanitation and odor treatment
ATX Bat and Wildlife provided proposal for exclusion services
ServPro PO issued (9360052030): $1563 to pull insulation out of wall
Bat Control Solutions provided proposal to install bat excluders
ServPro came to Plum Creek to remove lower half of the insulation in wall of
the computer lab, run air scrubber and apply antimicrobial
ServPro returned to Plum Creek to remove the upper half, ran air scrubber
and applied antimicrobial product
Computer Lab Closed
Dr. Henson sent email that listed several areas with remaining odors
After review of references, purchase order #9410050287 was issued to
Commercial Bat Control for $14,850 for exclusion project

Contacted Texas Dept of Health Services – Dr. Beverlee Nix

Appropriate plan of action includes exclusion and removal of waste
products
• Odor is not a health problem or a cause of disease
• She is not aware of an air quality test for histoplasmosis
Contacted City Health Official for consultation and walked the building. They
will be sending their report soon.
A letter and timeline was sent to parents regarding the bats.
Austin Enviro Group PO Issued (9410006816) in the amount of $3,950 for air
quality testing.
Austin Enviro Group conducted air samples and dust samples at Plum Creek
Elementary for an air quality test. A report of the tests are expected to the
district on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
