Dr. Wen-Ji Dong (董文基) is an associate professor
of Voiland School of Chemical and Bioengineering at
Washington State University (WSU). Dr. Dong
received his B.S. in chemistry in 1982, an M.S. in
inorganic chemistry in 1985 from Lanzhou University,
P.R. China. He received a scholarship from British
Council of United Kingdom for studies at Birkbeck
College, the University of London, England and
obtained his Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1992.
From 1993-1994 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the
Department of Chemistry of the University of
Western Ontario, Canada. He moved to the
University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was
a Research Fellow of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association from 1994 -1996; a Research Instructor
from 1996-2001; and a Research Assistant Professor from 2001- 2005. He joined the faculty
of the Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at WSU in 2006
and was promoted to a tenured associate professor in 2010.In addition to his active multidisciplinary researches on cardiac muscle biology and mechanics, his group is also devoted to
developing biosensor technologies for biological and cellular applications, and fluorescent
materials, particularly wavelength-shifting materials, design and synthesis for solar energy
conversion.
