Do you have an Elk's event or newsworthy item you
want published in the local newspapers or on the
Channel 13 Community Calendar? If so, please
email the relevant information to Dan Black at
[email protected] . I will edit and
submit your information in the required format
for each of the publications.
If you have an upcoming event, the required information is: the name and location of the event, what
organization will benefit from the event and contact
information (name, phone and email of the Elk(s)
who will be able to field questions). Don’t be surprised if you get a call from the newspaper asking for more information. Brief
and
concise is best for most situations, if they want to create a larger article,
they will call. This information should be submitted at least 2 weeks before the
event for newspaper publication - for TV, a month is generally required. Don’t
be disappointed if we don’t get published every time. Generally these submissions are published based on available space. But the more we submit the
odds improve.
If you are submitting news from a prior event, the same information as above is
required. If there is a picture, please attach it along with the identify all of the
persons in the picture with their name and relationship to the event or the
Elks. Identify the persons just as you would like it to appear as a caption below
the picture. If money was raised, don’t forget to indicate the amount. These
articles might not be published for several months because they are not time
sensitive but generally do get published.
The papers and tv will not advertize for events which are purely social events of
the Lodge. There generally must be a community organization or Veterans benefit for an event to be published in advance. If there is ANY "cause"
you can identify with the event, let's give it a try!
24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year , you can submit information.
You will be copied on all of the correspondence to/from the various papers and
tv.
Let's work together to get the Port Orange Elks the deserved public recognition
for all of the good work we do. Thanks for your help.
