VETERAN’S CORNER
The Elks, Elkhearts and Elk Riders were well represented at the Ponce Inlet Veterans
Memorial Service. A wreath was placed at the site by Leading Knight, Larry Lewis and
me. It was a very moving and impressive ceremony, as always. Thank you to all officers
and members who attended.
Later that afternoon, I visited the Emory Bennett Veterans Home in Daytona Beach and
delivered floral bouquets to Lifetime Member John Wrono and Robert Fuller. I visited with Mr. Fuller, spoke
about his service, and thanked him for his donation of the copper plaque that is currently hanging in the
meeting room. After visiting with Mr. Fuller, I went to see Mr. Wrono. He was resting, but I left flowers in
his room. I then followed up with a telephone call to his wife, Donna, later that evening to let her know that
the Lodge was thinking of him that day.
I would like to thank everyone who purchased Poppies and Tootsie Roll pops during November, Veterans
Month. All proceeds from these sales benefit our Veterans Fund.
Fraternally,
Dan Theodore, Veterans Chairman

The Harry-Anna Trust Fund was established in 1951. The trust
fund derives it’s name from Harry Miller, an Elks member, and his
wife, Anna. In 1931, Harry Miller donated his hotel building in
Umatilla, Florida to the Florida Elks to be converted into the HarryAnna Crippled Children’s Home. The hospital eventually grew to
become the Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services Program
which now covers most of Florida’s 67 counties.

In Port Orange Meals on Wheels is handled by the Council of Aging.
On holidays, however, the Council of Aging does not deliver meals,
so the Elks pick up those days so that our seniors may have a
nutritious meal on those special days. Our next times of service will
be Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The Meals On Wheels Association of America is the oldest and
largest membership organization supporting the national network of
more than 5,000 Senior Nutrition Programs that operate in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
The tireless work of these programs – supported by a dedicated army of 2 million volunteers – delivers a nutritious meal, a warm smile and a safety check that helps keep 2.5 million
seniors healthy, safe and living independently in their own homes each year.
