EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE
Greetings Fellow Elks,
I want to thank the membership for the confidence and trust they have shown by electing me and my fellow
officers for the Elk year 2015-2016. I want to thank Tom Watters, his officers, and committee members for a successful year.
March as usual was a very busy month. I would like to thank Eileen Miller and the Special Children’s Committee for the great job on the Hootenanny. It was not the usual Charity Ball but was casual and a lot of fun. Speaking for myself and I am sure a few others, I need to work on my square dancing.
Congratulations to John Toole as our Elk of the Year and Eileen Miller as our Officer of the Year. Keep up
the good work.
Thank you to Johnny, the House Committee, and especially my wife, Ann Marie, for planning, setting up, and
running the Installation of Officers on March 28, 2015.
Way to go Nancy and Fred Frick for the successful Easter Egg Hunt.
Let’s all continue to support the Lodge and each other in the coming events in April: Murder Mystery Dinner
for the Veterans Committee on April 11 and the Motorcycle Committee Barbeque on April 26. Thanks in advance for
the hard work.
The biggest THANK YOU goes out to Helen McDermott for the outstanding and thankless job in March and
April of collecting the dues, issuing the new membership cards, closing out all the year’s reports for Grand Lodge,
etc.
We also have the yearly convention down in Wildwood the first weekend in June. Last year we came close
to filling the Hotel. Let’s see if we can do it this year. See you around the Lodge!!
Fraternally yours,
Bob

Beach Party Fundraiser
On behalf of the Motorcycle Committee of Point Pleasant Lodge
#1698, I would like to thank all the
members and guests who braved
the winter weather to support the
Beach Party on February 21, 2015.
Despite Mother Nature, we had a
great turn out, terrific food, and
music that kept the dance floor
busy all evening. Our dedicated
members put in many hours to
make this event successful, not to
mention all the businesses and
members who donated items for
the gift auction. Another job well
done!!! See you at the Barbeque
in April.
Respectfully,
Charles Scanlan, President

Veterans Committee
By Nancy DeVito
It’s hard to believe it’s April. This is the start of new beginnings for Elkdom. I’d like to thank the outgoing officers and welcome our New Exalted Ruler, Bob Byrnes, and his slate of officers.
Our Veterans Committee is always thinking of ways to raise money for our Veterans and Troops. I
hope those who attend the Murder Mystery on April 11th have a good time and look forward to our
next theater show. We have three fishing trips planned. The first is in June, second in July, and the
last in August. Our service men and women enjoy these trips every year and I’d like to thank the
Point Pleasant Fishing Club for taking them on these fishing trips. We will be planning our Super
50/50 Raffle which goes off at the Fluke Tournament in July, family picnic at base, and care packages
for our homeless Vets and those serving overseas. These are just a few plans for this year.
I am proud to have been able to ask our ER Bob to go on a trip with the Air Force to the base in San
Antonio, Texas. Bob represented Point Pleasant Elks. He is also a business owner and this trip was to
show businesses why our military needs time off from work from time to time to serve our country.
Bob flew down on a KC10 and flew home on a C17. The picture below is aboard the C17.
Pavers are always available. If you would like to purchase one, please see Mike Travisano.
Thank you to Amanda Horton for the care package goodies. You are always thinking of those who
serve.
Remember, freedom isn’t free. Thank those who served and thank those who are serving.
God Bless America!
