Onboard QC and Data Processing Polarcus Geophysical Toolbox : RTQC and Advanced Fast Track Purpose To fully QC seismic data in real-time during acquisition and to carry out an advanced Fast Track processing sequence onboard, including de-ghosting, heavy de-multiple (e.g. 3D SRME), amplitude regularization and Pre-Stack KTM. Polarcus, in co-operation with DownUnder GeoSolutions (“DUG”), has invested in advanced onboard hardware which utilizes the innovative computing power of PHI co-processor clusters together with traditional Intel Xeon cores – up to 170 TFLOPS per vessel. The data processing software solution is developed by DUG, based on the DUG Insight package, and tailored to suit Polarcus’ onboard processing needs. Benefits • • • • • • • • Full data QC on the fly, along with advanced onboard Fast Track processing Instant updates of all real-time QC products and attributes within the shot point interval in time Highly interactive and intuitive processing software allowing efficient testing of parameters Versatile views including 3D representation, integrating interpretation-based techniques in onboard processing High processing power allowing testing and running of heavy processing steps within tight project time limits 24/7/365 support provided by DUG ensures that processing projects run smoothly onboard Polarcus vessels Three levels of support including high grade geophysical expert advice when necessary Onboard Fast Track processing closer to onshore processing standards Field Example The processing software has a variety of QC displays, covering full source sensor QC, seismic amplitude analysis and noise analysis, which is updated on the fly within one record length. Below are examples of QC displays. The first image (A) shows one line QC 2D PreSKTM after de-noise, de-multiple (2D SRME + Hi-Res RADON) and DUG BroadTM de-ghosting. These QC products are delivered within 12 hours of the end of line including interactive parameter testing and model building. (B) Shows the near trace for each gun/streamer combination. (C) Shows the source QC real time displays, including NFH peak amplitudes, onset times, bubble periods, raw NFH displays and source amplitude comparison graph.
