HHS Spotlight on Us March/April Edition Four HHS students placed in Georgia Perimeter College’s High School Literary Arts Competition which spans metro Atlanta: Anna Franklin (9th grade) - 2nd place essay, Becca Rackley (12th grade) - 2nd place poem, Tzintzuni Martinez (10th grade) - 1st place essay, and Holly Roseberry (9th grade) - 2nd place fiction. 103 Introduction to Business and Technology students successfully passed their Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Exam. Kayla Lindsay scored a perfect score (1000) on her Microsoft Office Certification Exam. Parker Trau was chosen as an alternate for the 2015 Governor’s Honor Program in the area of Theatre. Cyrena Lott placed in the Top Ten in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedures at the FBLA State Leadership Conference. Jamie Gray (9th grade) selected as 3rd runner up in the statewide Laws of Life Essay contest. KeAhnna Johnson was elected as a 2014-2015 FCCLA State Officer. Titlade Faminu and Ramone Nelson were Heritage’s representatives at the county Oratorical Showcase on May 2 at Rockdale Career Academy. The Sentinel staff earned a superior rating from the Georgia Scholastic Press Association for this year's newspapers--second in the state in its category. Jessica Porter-9th and Emanuelle Cazares-12th were chosen as grade-level winners for the Young Georgia Author’s award. 2015 Rotary Club Winners: English – Kevin Jones, Science – Xi Wang, Math – Tyler Potts, Social Studies – Graceanne Dukes, Foreign Language – Tayana Polite, Performing Arts – Tatianna Thompson, Art – Lauren Girod, Music – Joseph Kim, CTAE – Sorayia Mene, Physical Education – George Moll, ROTC – Sean Kim. Mrs. Heather Bragg was nominated Best Choreographer (Addams Family) for the Shuler-Hensley Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater? Winners will be announced on April 23, 2015. Sydni Moore was named the Conyers Cup (Golf) Low Medalist. Boys’ Track came in 2nd place in the Atlanta Games. Marquise Davis, Jallah Galimah and Dayo Akindele took home first place medals in their events. Dayo Akindele was selected as Male MVP for the Atlanta Games. The Heritage High School Band received a superior rating (highest attainable) at the Large Group Performance Evaluation for the stage and sight-reading performance. Varsity Boys Soccer won Conyers Cup for the 7th consecutive year. Rashad Jones signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Central Georgia Technical College. Dayo Akindele signed his letter of intent to run track at Kennesaw State University.
