We Invite Catechists, Parish Catechetical Leaders,
Parents & Clergy to Attend
Sister Kathleen will present a theological and pastoral perspective of welcoming,
including and catechizing children and youth with autism and other developmental
disabilities. Their learning styles and characteristics will be explored as well as positive
approaches of engaging them and their families in faith formation. Using the National
Directory for Catechesis and Guidelines for the Celebration of the Sacraments as a
spring board, a variety of models of inclusion, effective teaching methods and
resources that will assist Catechetical leaders, catechists and parents will be shared.

Carrie Freyer will introduce Loyola Press’ Adaptive Finding God, a groundbreaking new
program designed to help children with autism and other special needs experience
their Catholic faith. Pope Francis calls us to be a Church that “knows how to open her
arms and welcome everyone.” This program can make faith formation available to
everyone in your parish. It is adaptable to a variety of situations; flexible enough to
be used at home, one on one, and in group settings; includes a wealth of innovative
resources and ideas. Carrie will give an informative and hands on overview.
