Nature has plenty to offer in Potosi Township.
The Potosi Recreation Area, or the “Potosi Point” as
it is known locally, is a wildlife refuge consisting of a
finger of land extending .6 miles into the Mississippi
River, where visitors can enjoy bird watching from
a bird viewing platform. Over 270 species of land
birds and waterfowl have been observed, including
eagles, snow geese, American pelicans and swans.
The wildlife refuge sits in one of the four north-south
migration flyways for birds that winter in the south.
Bank fishing and a boat ramp are available for fishing
enthusiasts.

Picnic and Camp on your visit in either a modern or
rustic setting. Hickory Hill Park offers picnic areas
with and without shelters, along with a volleyball
court, horseshoe pits, and playground. Pine Point
Lodging offers cabins with modern amenities in the
secluded woods near the Mississippi River.
Grant River Recreation Area offers both tent and RV
camping on the banks of the Mississippi River and
is considered by many to be the jewel of the Upper
Mississippi River. The park has a boat ramp, shower
facilities and children’s playground equipment, and
is ideal for viewing the beautiful Mississippi River
sunsets. The park is run by the U.S. Army Corps

Region where History
and Progress Meet
The villages of Potosi & Tennyson are located in
beautiful Potosi Township, Grant County, situated
on the Great River Road in Southwest Wisconsin,
on the Mississippi River and bordering Iowa and
Illinois. An area steeped in history and beauty, it
has undergone a progressive revival to showcase its
unique treasures. The restoration of an 1852 brewery
into a nationally acclaimed museum, travel center,
& restaurant as well as the new Mississippi River
bird-viewing platform and telescope, make Potosi &

At the Potosi Brewing Company Complex, you
will find four different entities: The Great River
Road Interpretive Center is a welcoming stop for
visitors traveling Wisconsin's corridor of one of
America’s Scenic Byways. Stories of the Mississippi
River come alive and guests learn more about river
history, as well as find brochures and other travel
information about places and events in the Tri-State
area. Visitors can check their e-mail on internet
kiosks, or visit websites to learn more about other
area attractions.

The National Brewery Museum™ and research
library showcase the rich history of America’s
breweries through the preservation of brewery
memorabilia and advertising. Changing displays
by the American Breweriana Association highlight
various breweries and collectables.
Festivals and events abound in Potosi and
Tennyson. The annual Firemen’s Catfish Fry &
Catfish Festival are held the second weekend in
August. Enjoy locally caught catfish and join in a
variety of family friendly events.
While at the fish-fry visit the Memorial which
honors the men and women who have served our
country from the Civil War to the present, and also
recognizes the firemen, EMT’s and police who have
served our communities proudly.
Every fourth Saturday in August Potosi Brewfest
brings thousands to the area. Sample beers, wines,
spirits, & cheese from Wisconsin and the nation.

At the Passage Thru Time Museum experience
the rich heritage of the area, with emphasis on
mining, farming, the historic Potosi Brewery and
the Mississippi River. Displays of Native American
artifacts, World War ll memorabilia, historic business
paraphernalia, and agricultural history may be seen.
The museum also houses an extensive collection of
photos and historic records, including genealogy
information. Perfect for both the casual history buff
and intensive researcher.
The Potosi Brewing Company Transportation
Museum tells the story of how an industrial building
on the Great River Road made use of the river, the
highway and the railway. Through exhibits and
interactive displays the history of the Potosi Brewery
is told through various modes of transportation.

Art
displays works by
noted artists, exhibits reflecting the Mississippi
River, the flora and fauna of the river valley, and river
community artists. Changing exhibits (sculpture,
paintings, photography, etc) keep the museum fresh.
Before departing, treat yourself and tantalize
your taste buds in the Potosi Brewing Company
Restaurant and sample a fine selection of locally
brewed beers at our handcrafted bar made by local
woodcrafter and artisan Gary David. The restaurant’s
unique atmosphere, dining, and the flowing spring
below the floor, channel the dynamic energy of an
1850’s brewery.
To further your wine and cheese kick, check out
Whispering Bluffs Winery for great wine, cheese,
chocolates, gourmet coffees and gifts. Located
across from the Brewery, this year-round winery has
much to offer your palate.
Every September a Potosi Bicycle Tour and Walk/
Run begins and finishes at the Brewery. Rides of
20, 40, 65, & 100 miles go through the driftless
region of Southwest Wisconsin. Details about
