Salient Features of Khurja STPP (2x660 MW) A) STEAM GENERATOR: The main parameters at 100% Boiler Maximum Continuous Rating (BMCR) will be as follows: i) Main steam flow at super‐heater outlet 2225 t/hr. ii) Pressure at super‐heater outlet 256 kg/cm2 iii) Temperature at SH outlet 540oC. iv) RH steam flow 1763 t/hr. v) Steam temperature at re‐heater outlet 568oC. There will be two axial FD fans and two axial ID fans & two pairs of regenerative rotary type air pre‐heaters. Four numbers of steam coil air pre heaters will be provided for start‐up, low load operation or abnormal conditions. B) STEAM TURBINE: The main parameters of turbine will be as follows: i) Turbine throttle steam pressure shall be 247 kg/cm2. ii) Turbine throttle main steam/ reheat steam temperature shall be 537oC / 565oC. iii) Turbine speed shall be 3000 rpm. iv) Frequency variation range from rated frequency of 50 Hz (+) 3% to (‐) 5% (47.5 Hz to 51.5 Hz). v) The steam turbine generator unit shall be equipped with an electro‐hydraulic governing system backed up by 100% mechanical‐hydraulic or electro‐hydraulic control system. C) ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR: i) ii) Outlet Emission Limit: 100 mg/Nm3 while the boiler is operating at its MCR, firing worst coal having maximum ash content. Dust Collection Hopper Capacity: Eight hours to maintain the sustained efficiency of ESP. D) BOILER FEED PUMPS: Following boiler feed pumps shall be provided; i) 2 nos., 50 % turbine driven feed pumps (normally working). ii) 1 no., 50 % motor driven boiler feed pump (standby) with booster pumps mounted on the common shaft. Each pump shall be designed to give parameters to suit the steam generator requirements such that two feed pumps shall be capable of meeting the full requirement of the boiler turbine unit with the third pump as a standby. E) COAL HANDLING PLANT: i) ii) iii) iv) v) Capacity : 2000 MTPH. Coal Sizing : Crushers for ultimately sizing the coal to ‐ 20mm. Storage capacity: Coal stockyards shall have crushed coal storage equivalent to 21days coal consumption for 2x660 MW units. Two nos. rail mounted, traveling stacker reclaimers, bucket wheel type are also proposed for coal stockyard management. Dust suppression and service water system shall be provided throughout the coal handling plant. F) GENERATOR: The main parameters of Generator would be as under; i) Nominal rating : 660 MW ii) Rated output : 777 MVA iii) Power factor : 0.85 (lagging) iv) Generator winding cooling : By demineralised water, passing through hollow stator conductor. v) Core and Stator cooling : By hydrogen which in turn shall be cooled in hydrogen coolers designed for DM water. The Generator shall also have the following additional protections/ monitoring; i) Alkaliser unit ii) End winding vibration monitor
