duisport packing group expands its
safety portfolio
duisport packing logistics continues to expand
all-round service for air cargo / Now also reliable
partner for entire logistics processing chain for
air cargo / dpl Chemnitz certified as official
representative by the Federal Aviation Office
Duisburg, 28. 4. 2015 - During the past few years,
duisport packing logistics GmbH has established itself
as a reliable partner for processing air cargo shipments.
The Duisburger Hafen AG subsidiary, which specializes
in the packing of industrial goods, has been certified as
an official representative with the Federal Aviation Office
since 2010, and is therefore a part of the so-called secure
supply chain. The certification of dpl Chemnitz GmbH
means that the service range is now also offered across
Germany.
duisport packing logistics GmbH (dpl) specializes in the
packing and shipping of heavy equipment and machine
components. During the last two years, dpl has expanded its
services so that the safe status of air cargo can not just be
maintained but equipment and machine components can now
be designated as safe directly at the Duisburg operating site
on the basis of the corresponding analyses. This does away
with the time-consuming inspections at the airport. Moreover,
packages no longer have to be opened prior to loading,
avoiding damages. In this way, large and medium-sized
customers have access to all-round services that are also
available for urgent air cargo shipments.
"We have specialized in heavy and bulky components with
metal contents that cannot be x-rayed and would require
extensive handling at the airport. During the last two years,
we have designated approximately 1,800 shipments with a
total weight of around 1,450 tonnes as safe," reports
Christian Negele, aviation safety representative and
responsible for safety management at the duisport Group.
"Particularly when it comes to time-critical air shipments, we
are a reliable partner to our customers during the entire
logistics processing chain, which has allowed us to
distinguish us from the competition," adds Negele.
The issue of reliability and safety is a top priority for
customers and the duisport Group alike. Therefore the

company submitted an application for an ISPS facility on the
grounds of dpl in Duisburg, which has now been approved by
the Regional Council in Düsseldorf. This facility can also meet
the demanding safety requirements for the processing of
maritime vessels. The facility is operated together with
Heavylift Terminal Duisburg GmbH. Now products can also
be loaded directly onto maritime vessels in addition to inland
water vessels.
In addition, the subsidiary dpl Chemnitz GmbH successfully
passed the Federal Aviation Office audit, and has now also
been accredited as an official representative in eastern
Germany.
"We are systematically expanding our safety portfolio to
ensure the safe and efficient transport of our customers'
goods to construction sites around the world. Our employees
receive continuous training and are well prepared for the
respective safety requirements both at our operating locations
and the plants of our customers," concludes Negele.
