POSITION SUMMARY This position reports to the IT Manager and maintains database by updating, assisting database users with
entry issues, monitoring, and improving performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES •

Assists IT Manager in database planning, maintenance and upgrades by maintaining, evaluating,
quality control and continuous quality improvement
Assesses database performance by developing a protocol for measurement of results and
identification of problem areas and training staff on database features and functions
Supports database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving
processing and programming problems; designing database management tools; answering user
questions.
Secures database by preparing access and control policies and procedures; implementing disaster
recovery procedures.
Supports application design by contributing expertise to applications, operations, and technical
support teams.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional
publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as
needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Must have in-depth and verifiable experience in the development and maintenance of Microsoft
Access 2010 Databases, including but not limited to:
Improving the end user experience (ease of data entry, reporting, query construction)

Database security
Database Maintenance
Solving database problems, identifying areas for process improvement
Analyzing workflow and database requirements based on workflow needs
Data import and export: MS Excel to Access; CSV to Access
Database Performance Tuning
Microsoft Operating Systems troubleshooting
User support
Communication Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions and write basic correspondence such as memos. Data entry
skills with a high degree of accuracy. Comfort with basic dental terminology. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
Reasoning and/or Critical Thinking Ability Work situations require consideration and interpretation of circumstances or information to choose the most
effective response. Solutions may be technical yet relatively straightforward and well-defined once
problems are understood.
Computer Skills, Licenses and Certification •

Two years of verifiable database experience (encompassing the experience criteria above) working
with SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic or equivalent education/certifications
specific to database development and administration. Preference will be given to candidates with
specific experience and/or industry-standard certifications in Database Administration (i.e. CIW
Database Design Specialist) and/or Microsoft certification in Access 2010.
Candidate will have the ability to interpret workflow needs into requirements and a functional and
supportive database environment for the end user.
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite 2010, Acrobat Professional, Visio.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment •

This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office
equipment.
Must speak clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear
at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone.
Vision correctable to 20/40 is required to review written materials.
The working environment is a typical office environment.
