Sheth Mansukhlal Chhaganlal College of Dairy
Science, Anand is a premier institute in the field of
dairy education and research since 1961. The
Institute, which has been recognized as "Centre of
Excellence", is a pioneer national centre for dairy
education in the country, producing qualified dairy
professionals. These professionals, by their pursuit
for excellence, depth of knowledge and honesty of
purpose, have brought laurels for themselves and
repute to their alma mater.
Established in 1961 as a constituent part of the
institute of Agriculture, Anand, the college was
affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh
Vidyanagar till 1972. Thereafter, it became a
constituent part of Gujarat Agricultural University
and was conferred the status of full-fledged faculty
— The Faculty of Dairy Science. Looking to the
standards of excellence achieved by the college, the
ICAR-NDDB joint panel, in 1989, selected it as one
of the national centers for excellence in dairy
education. The degree programme was revised in
1989 from B.Sc. (DT) to B.Tech. (D.T.). The postgraduate programme was started in 1977, leading
to degree of M.Sc. /M.Tech. as well as Ph.D.
The institute comprises of six independent
departments namely Dairy Business Management,
Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Dairy
Chemistry,
Dairy
Microbiology
and
Dairy
Processing & Operations. Each department has
separate laboratories/ workshop equipped with
sophisticated equipments and instruments and has
a well-qualified faculty. In-plant Training is
provided at Vidya Dairy (a multi-product,
completely automatic, ISO 9001-2000; HACCP
Dairy Plant) having handling capacity of 1.0 lakh
liters of milk per day.

INFORMATION ON SUMMER SCHOOL
The course curriculum has been designed to
comprehensively
cover
various
aspects
of
dairybusiness management viz. dairy production,
processing,
economics,
management
and
entrepreneurship aspects. It comprises theoretical
inputs on important aspects by experienced
resource persons from AAU as well as those invited
from other reputed academic and industrial
organization. It also includes field visits to
commercial production units in order to provide a
useful practical exposure to the participants on
important business practices, analyticaltools and
techniques used for ensuring economic success of a
dairy enterprise.


ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPANTS
The ICAR sponsored summer school is open for
participants
from
ICAR
Institutes/State
Agricultural
Universities/Central
Agricultural
Universities. The participants should possess post
graduate degree from any of the recognized
university in Business Management, Agribusiness,
Dairy Economics, Dairy Extension, ICT and other
relevant discipline. Further the candidate should be
working in the relevant fields as mentioned above
not below the rank of Assistant Professor or
equivalent in State Agricultural Universities/ ICAR
Institutes. Participants will be selected on the basis
of their potential to benefit their organization in
future. A maximum of 25 participants will be
selected based on their experience and area of
working.

Registration Fees
The participants are required to pay a sum of Rs.
50/-(Rupees Fifty only) as registration fee (Nonrefundable) along with the completed application in
the form of an Indian Postal Oder / Draft in favour
of AAU Fund Account, payable at Anand.
Accommodation and Travelling Allowance
Expenses on boarding and lodging arrangements
for selected participants will be borne by the
organizers as per ICAR guidelines. The expenditure
on travel by the participants from SAU’s and other
ICAR institutions will be paid as per their
entitlement for the class of travel restricted to the
maximum of AC II/III Tier fare by the shortest
route. Participants are required to produce the
original and photocopies of tickets in support of
their claim. (Air route is not advisable).
How to Reach
Anand is well connected to all parts of India by
train and road. AAU is located 5 km from bus
station and 4 km from railway station. Auto/taxi
can be hired from bus/railway station to reach
University guest house.
Weather
The weather during the summer school will be
generally humid due to Monsoon season.
