main speaker Conrad Solares and the Aztec group Mictlan danced and tato Daza played
the drums. Seniors were given their sarape sashes for graduation and their certificate to
the ones that have a 3.0 or higher. We had a ceremony to give the awards to the

Parents
Latino Gala celebrated with about 150 parents and students at Prospect High
School on Friday, April 17th.
The evening consisted of remarks from our president Salma Vizcaya followed by our
main speaker Conrad Solarez. We had about 10 latinas recognized from the club that will
graduate and we gave them their sashes for graduation.
We had the honor of having Aztec dancers that were spectacular and food galore
provided by the club and parents.
We also had the students with high GPA get a diploma of accomplishment. The evening
finished by the girls dancing el caballo dorado.
We thank Aimee Subaba who came and celebrated with us. She spoke to the parents at
the end of the festivities.
The girls are very proud of their accomplishments in these last few years. We have
between 50 to 75 girls in the club.
The purpose of the club is to encourage more latino participation in the everyday life of the
school and to encourage them to follow higher education after high school

Hello Dear PHS Community!
We’re in need of gift cards for the various competitions held during international week. Since
1995 the tradition has been to unite the community in spirit and leadership by offering activities
all week to grow and study and learn about the different ethnic groups at PHS and in the world.
It’s tradition to have the Monday flag ceremony, Tuesday International PE games, Wednesday
Flash Mob, Thursday door decorating contest and FRIDAY FOOD DAY….This is one of the most
powerful and engaging events of the school year.
We would really appreciate any type of Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Five Guys, Amazon, Target or
other gift cards for prizes for the teachers and kids. If possible, leave with Beena Sharief in the
main office or drop off with your student in room 23.
