For even greater safety in the soﬃt area, PROTEKTOR now sews the fabric on
its plastic proﬁles. This technology produces high-strength connections. It
is used in other industrial areas wherever extreme loads need to be handled.
The sturdy seams always remain intact regardless of the temperature, even
in extreme heat and severe frost. The thread is also less noticeable than a
normal adhesive strip and bonds tightly with the plaster. Sometimes success
literally hangs by a thread.

Always compliant to standards with PROTEKTOR!
If the frameseal beads are used as a soﬃt sealing system, the recommendations provided in the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV), in DIN 4108 and by RAL Quality Association apply: the
total system must be designed so that it is „tighter indoors than
outdoors“ in order to control vapour diﬀ usion.
Pertinent standards therefore stipulate airtight mounting indoors.
Outdoors, draught-proof and driving rain-proof installation of the
connection prevents moisture penetration of the masonry. This results in the most important requirement for correct mounting: „Formation of a tighter connection joint inside than outside.“
If moisture from the room interior gets between a window frame
and a wall, it precipitates there as condensation, resulting in damage, e.g. caused by mould.
THE Sd VALUE AS A PROFESSIONAL REFERENCE VALUE
Standard-compliant installation, tighter indoors than outdoors, is
facilitated by grading according to the Sd value. This physical quantity is a measure for the water vapour permeability of a building
component. A higher value signiﬁes a higher degree of tightness of
the building component or proﬁle.

A frameseal bead with an Sd value of 132 is more impermeable
to water vapour than a profile with an Sd value of 104. In this case,
profile 1 can be used indoors and profile 2 outdoors (see chart).
