Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women)
The Vishakha judgment defines sexual harassment at the workplace as
follows:- “Sexual harassment need not involve physical contact. Any act that
creates a hostile work environment - be it by virtue of cracking lewd jokes, verbal
abuse, circulating lewd rumors etc. counts as sexual harassment”. The creation of a
hostile work environment through unwelcome physical verbal or non-verbal
conduct of sexual nature may consist not of a single act but of a pattern of behavior
comprising many such acts.
In Pursuance of directions of Honorable Supreme court in the case of
Vishaka & others Vs. State of Rajasthan & others. This Institute has constituted a
“Women Complaints Committee” to which women employees may address their
complaints, if any, regarding sexual harassment.
